We’ve all been there: A too-busy-for-lunch day turns into a vending machine buffet.

Instead of making unhealthy choices, why not try the vitamin-packed Subliminator Smoothie?

With a substantial base of bananas and a triple dose of protein in the form of peanut butter, brown-rice powder, and low-calorie spirulina, this yummy, satiating drink will fuel you for hours. “This smoothie supplies enough nutrients that it can serve as a light lunch if you’re on the go,” chef Philip Doucette, the maestro behind the smoothie, tells us in our June issue.

Found at the Daily Juice in Austin, Texas, the Subliminator Smoothie is chock-full of blueberries and cherries, which provide flavonoids—key in thwarting the production of free radicals and cancer-causing cells.

The brew also calls for a dose of your choice of protein powder. Try whey to promote the growth of lean muscle ($28 per 12 oz., teraswhey.com), brown rice for easy digestion ($30 per 17.6 oz., sunwarrior.com), or hemp for a wallop of nine essential amino acids, plus omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids ($19 per 16 oz., nutiva.com).

Read on for the super-satisfying, super-healthy smoothie recipe.
