Last night Narciso Rodriguez introduced his new designs for the Narciso Rodriguez (heart) Bottletop Collection, an exclusive collaboration of limited-edition handbags crafted from Amazon Rainforest-friendly leather and up-cycled pop tabs. Sponsored by Pepsi, the chic accessories promote sustainability and are created by artisans in Brazil who have been trained by Bottletop, a charitable foundation launched in 2002 that works to support health education in Africa, Brazil, and the United Kingdom.
Many celebrity fans, including Claire Danes, Hugh Dancy, Livia Firth, Donna Karan, Kelly Rutherford, Olivia Palermo, Dianna Agron, and Jessica Seinfeld, attended the New York event to fete the collection. Guests quickly snapped up 250 specially created Narciso Rodriguez (heart) Bottletop x Pepsi cans made to celebrate the line’s launch.
Part of the brand’s spring/summer 2014 collection, the Narciso Rodriguez (heart) Bottletop Collection features two signature handbags which mix the clean, minimal lines of Rodriguez’s designs with Bottletop’s signature craftsmanship. The limited-edition styles come in crocheted black or blush leather, and are named for two of Rodriguez’s favorite clients: The Jessica clutch is named for Jessica Alba, who introduced Rodriguez to the Bottletop initiative, and the Candice handbag is dedicated to Candice Swanepoel, Bottletop’s brand ambassador and campaign face. Who knew pop tabs could be so stylish?
