Elizabeth Hurley looked pretty in pink and so perfectly put together at Evelyn Lauder Breast Cancer Research Foundation‘s annual Hot Pink Party that you’d never guess that she often has a tough time finding a gown for the annual event. “There are some seasons where there are no pink dresses,” Hurley told InStyle.com at last night’s event. “We call all the designers and ask for long and pink gowns, hoping to find one. I was really lucky this year because Versace had the most perfect pink dress for me—I haven’t worn a pink Versace dress for years and years, and I love this one.” The actress paired her bubblegum Versace Collection gown with Jimmy Choo shoes and sparkling Chopard jewels, which made for a winning look.

Another of Hurley’s year-round projects is gathering other pink items of clothing in shades of rose, fuchsia, peony, and more. As a longtime ambassador for the Estée Lauder Companies’ Breast Cancer Awareness Campaign, she wears the hue all the time. “I’ve hoarded so much pink over the years,” she says. “I really do like a bit of pink!”

The obsession doesn’t just stop at her attire—Hurley also loves pink makeup and noted that her current product of choice is Bobbi Brown’s Pink Ribbon Embossed French Pink Blush from a limited-edition set to benefit The Breast Cancer Research Foundation (it is now sold out). “I use a lot of product,” she admits of her beauty routine. “But I do it all at super speed.”

Hurley acted as host for the party, which was a beautiful cancan-inspired affair, complete with thousands of pink flowers, that was designed by famed event planner Bryan Rafanelli and held at New York City’s Waldorf Astoria Hotel. Following dinner and an auction, guests were treated to an outstanding performance by Grammy nominee Sara Bareilles (in J. Mendel) who sang several of her hits. Sir Elton John joined the singer for the final number and the duo performed Bareilles’s song “Gravity.” Other attendees included Hailee Steinfeld—who danced and sang along during the performances—Josh Groban, Vera Wang, and Donna Karan.

The event ultimately raised more than $5 million for the Breast Cancer Research Foundation. “I know so many people personally who have been affected by breast cancer, which makes it such a moving cause to me,” Hurley said. “I believe in this cause because I don’t want this disease to scare women anymore.”
