If you want more to show for your layover at London’s Heathrow Airport than a stale bagel and an inflatable travel pillow, you can now arrange for your own multilingual personal shopper to collect items you’ve already reserved via a website, and bring them to you at your terminal. Or, if you’re not sure what you want, the shopper will make suggestions and collect items for you to try on.
The free service (which must be booked in advance) was previously available only to passengers traveling in first class, but has now been open to all travelers. And don’t worry about having to carry your purchases around Europe; if you’re traveling onward within the European Union, you can “buy before you fly” and then pick them up when you return to Heathrow.
In terms of the selection, it goes way beyond T-shirts and baseball caps (Heathrow’s Terminal 5 can seem less like an airport than an upscale mall with some planes attached): The 300 participating outlets include top-end brands like Cartier, Burberry, Prada, Tiffany & Co., Bulgari, Alexander McQueen, Gucci, Hermes, Miu Miu, Mulberry, Ralph Lauren, and Valentino, with accessories from Bally, Coach, Dior, and Dolce & Gabbana.
Now that’s traveling in style!
