Meet Patricia Gomez-Gracia. The Madrid-born, Miami native behind up-and-coming label Gomez-Gracia has been receiving the kind of red carpet buzz that reflects her resume. The London-based designer received training from fashion great Alexander McQueen and then the much-respected Julien MacDonald before starting her own namesake label in 2009.
Taking inspiration her own experience with a diverse range of cultures, Gomez-Gracia is influenced by textures and fabrics. Feminine and refined with an edgy twist, her designs feature sensual cuts and flattering lines in sumptuously complex textiles. There’s also tension in her designs; Gomez-Gracia’s East London edginess meets West End class makes her collections fun and playful while remaining timeless. Interesting embellishments like hand-sewn flowers and wispy feathers grace her garments, giving each piece a couture feel and unique flair.
This rising talent’s designs have already caught the eyes of celebrities like Carrie Underwood, Katie Holmes, and Kim Kardashian. One standout: Underwood’s light, long-sleeved, sequin-embroidered Gomez-Gracia dress from the 2012 Grammy Awards, which made our roundup of the top Grammys gowns of all time. You could say, like Gomez-Gracia’s star, it’s white hot!
