Rihanna is famous, if not for her catchy hits or her
promiscuous entertaining antics (as evidenced by her infamous @badgalriri Instagram feed), then it’s for her fierce and fearless fashion choices. So fierce and fearless in fact, that she will be honored for just that by the CFDA with the 2014 Fashion Icon Award come June 2nd at Alice Tully Hall in New York City.
“We are proud to present Rihanna with the CFDA Fashion Icon Award for her impact on the industry as fashion’s most exciting ambassador in recent memory,” Steven Kolb, CEO of CFDA, said in a statement.
The singer has proven time and time again that she’s basically a walking fashion chameleon, with the ability to pull off one extreme look to the next, whether it’s a down-to-there plunging Alexandre Vauthier gown with an up-to-there slit or a conservative tweed Chanel Couture set (with a matching fanny pack and sneakers to boot). More recently, RiRi was a front row fixture during Paris Fashion Week, spotted at a slew of prestigious shows, including Lanvin, Christian Dior, Stella McCartney, and Chanel.
