The 5th Annual Fashion 2.0 Awards took place at Merkin Concert Hall in New York last night, where some of our favorite designers, bloggers and social media royalty like Coco Rocha (pictured, above right) were recognized for their innovative use of technology and growing social media empires. Amongst the tech-savvy fashion luminaries were host Robert Verdi and guest speaker Zac Posen (pictured, above left).
“It’s crazy to think that platforms like Instagram weren’t even around five years ago,” says Yuli Ziv, Fashion 2.0 Awards founder and Style Coalition founder & CEO. So which handles racked up the awards? It was a tie between Marc Jacobs, who snagged Best Twitter and Best Instagram, and ASOS, who scored Best Facebook and Top Innovator. Also entering the fashion frontier was Acustom Apparel, who took home Best Fashion Startup for their 3D measuring technology to digitally tailor clothing to fit for men. “This event is important because people are connecting digitally through representations of their emotions on social media now and we’re creating new rules for the future of fashion,” says Posen.
