It’s practically a given that any actress who steps foot on the Oscars red carpet will look gorgeous, but only a very special and select few can be called “unforgettable.”
InStyle Editor-at-Large Hal Rubenstein joined the ladies of The View Monday morning to chat about just that: the most extraordinary ensembles we’ve seen in the 86-year history of the Academy Awards red carpet. From the ice-blue Edith Head dress Grace Kelly wore (three separate times!) in 1955 to Julia Roberts‘ game-changing vintage Valentino in 2001 and Nicole Kidman‘s John Galliano-designed Christian Dior in 1997 (striking because everyone was in pastels at the time), Rubenstein conjured up a few choice picks we always find ourselves reminiscing about each time awards season rolls around.
