Red Carpet File: The Fearless Style of Oscar Nominee Amy AdamsFeb 17, 2014 @ 9:29 am
With the 86th annual Academy Awards less than three weeks away, Hollywood’s leading nominated ladies are busying choosing their designer gowns for the red carpet, and if you’re Amy Adams (nominated for Best Actress in a Leading Role for American Hustle), you already have an idea of what you’re looking for. “Sometimes I feel like I’m dressing in costume on the red carpet, and this year I want to feel like myself, so I guarantee you when I’m on the red carpet this year, you can know that’s a dress that I would wear. So it’s not a character’s dress.” We can’t wait to see what she goes with.
Usually Wears: Adams favors the Old Hollywood glamour look, choosing classic silhouettes from strapless gowns to flirty cocktail frocks, but puts a fun spin on each look. Whether it’s a structured neckline, a bold color or print (like this blue cutout Antonio Berardi gown from the SAG Awards), the star manages to keep a perfect balance of sexy and demureness.
Favorite Designers: Elie Saab, Oscar de la Renta, Gucci, Roland Mouret, Valentino, and Dolce & Gabbana.
Wildcard Factor: Adams is fearless when it comes to color and she loves to experience with fun silhouettes.
What We’d Like To See: “I think the new super sexy Amy Adams is amazing and I love that she is dressing in the character that is she nominated for playing with that almost ’70s kind of vibe and picking up this fresh Valentino dress it’s like a modern take on that look,” says Fashion News Director Eric Wilson during InStyle‘s Google Oscar Hangout Debate. “I would love her to continue that streak at the Oscars and once again bring up a kind of a cool, revealing, fun, sexy look that you might see from the ’70s.”
