With the surge of red gowns on the red carpet, it was only a matter of time before it sparked a trend on the runway. For fall/winter 2014, designers set the catwalk ablaze with floor-sweeping gowns washed in the siren-red shade. Fiery crimsons and oranges were shown at Prabal Gurung, unexpected bold crimson dresses at Honor sparked a study in contrasts against a line-up of pastels, and Carolina Herrera closed her show with a mix of geometric and solid reds.

But it wasn’t all red carpet-ready creations. Red popped up on more casual wear, too, from little leather dresses at Rag & Bone to flowy midi-length dresses at Donna Karan to brick-red houndstooth-print coats (and skirts and knits) at Coach. Either way, one thing’s for sure: We’re (red)y for a red winter.
