Fashion week is no longer unique to New York City, London, Milan, and Paris. This season, Vivienne Tam is dismantling the exclusive nature of fashion month and opening it up for an all-access experience at her fall/winter 2014 show—with an app. The designer has partnered up with WeChat, an interactive (and free!) mobile app, for an insider insight into the goings-on at the show and backstage. “In the fast-paced fashion world, WeChat with its all-inclusive platform, allows me to reach a global audience and provides instantaneous feedback,” Tam said in a statement.
To make this happen on show day, download the app and add “VTAMFASHION” as a contact to view behind-the-scenes images and audio messages from the designer while you stream the show live (bookmark the URL: newyork.mbfashionweek.com/live so you don’t miss a second). “We are always looking for innovative ways to grow with technology and WeChat lets me bring the fashion week experience from a designer’s lens to a wider audience—from the touch of my fingertip to yours!” Tam said. Now that’s technology at its finest (and chicest).
