This weekend a little sporting event called the Super Bowl happened here on the East Coast, and celebrities flocked to Manhattan to celebrate all weekend. From pre-game day events to sitting in the stands, stars like Hugh Jackman, Chrissy Teigen, Stacy Keibler, and more soaked up the fun at various football festivities, but that’s not all that went down on Instagram. Plenty more celebrities were enjoying their weekend and took the social media app to share their favorite moments! Click through the gallery to see eleven of the best ‘grams from the weekend.
Her blonde hair had a good run, but now, Kim Kardashian is revisiting her natural hue. Over the weekend, the reality star took to Instagram to reveal her au naturel look, captioning a shot of her tawny brown strands with, “I’m back.” We admit — we loved Kim’s warm gold highlights, but no one wears a deep brunette shade quite like the star, and the low maintenance vibe is much more in line with her busy schedule as she balances her roles as mommy and mogul. “I loved that no one recognized me as a blonde, but it required so much upkeep that I went back to my natural color,” she previously told InStyle on her first time going blonde. “I did not want to spend my free time in the salon chair.” Take a closer look at Kim’s hairstyle, and see even more celebrity hair makeovers in our gallery!
The sad news of Philip Seymour Hoffman was a surprising and devastating shock. It was only two weeks ago that InStyle caught up with the actor at the Sundance Film Festival, where he stopped by our pop-up portrait studio in Park City, Utah not once, but twice—first to promote his film God’s Pocket co-starring Christina Hendricks and directed by John Slattery (above), and second to sing praises for A Most Wanted Man, which co-stars Rachel McAdams and Willem Dafoe.
“Phil was so easy and welcoming, and you know, I’d never met him before,” Hendricks had told InStyle.com during the shoot for God’s Pocket, which tells the story of Mickey Scarpato (Hoffman) not being able to catch a break, in life, love (Hendricks plays his wife) or work in the blue-collar Philadelphia neighborhood, God’s Pocket. “I didn’t know how he was going to be, but he was just great to work with. He was relaxed and nice.”
For the two days he was in our studio, he was reserved. It reflected the demeanor he said he tried to keep on set. “We know each other outside of this. But there’s a job to be done,” he told InStyle. “There was not of a lot of laughter on set. Yes, you joke. But ultimately you finish up and you think about the next thing.”
Philip Seymour Hoffman is survived by his partner, Mimi O’Donnell, and their three children.

The singer and CoverGirl is the first celeb to snag 50 million followers (she’s currently at 50.1 million and growing!) on the digital platform. Perry secured the top spot over the weekend, beating out Justin Bieber (49.2 million), Lady Gaga (41 million), and Taylor Swift (38.7 million). The news came the same week Perry’s “Dark Horse” landed the number one spot on Billboard’s Hot 100 chart. Best way to end January, or what?
Aside from posting upcoming tour dates, the singer talks charities (particularly UNICEF, where she acts as Goodwill ambassador), interacts with her legion of connected fans, the Katycats, and encourages cameos from her beau, John Mayer, on Twitter—most notably, this gem, which was retweeted over 12,000 times: “John here. Katy can’t write because she’s getting over Stevie Nicks dedicating Landslide to us at the Fleetwood Mac concert. Unforgettable.” So sweet! Click to see Perry and Mayer on date night post-Grammys.
Bruno Mars’ halftime performance during Super Bowl XLVIII was certainly one of the most exciting moments of the night, outfits included! The singer took to the stage in style, as Mars and his band wore shiny gold, slim-fitting blazers with leather lapels, custom made by Saint Laurent. Paired with slacks, skinny ties, and patent-leather lace-ups also designed by the French fashion brand, the group looked retro glam for their big show. Mars brought extreme energy to the event, singing a medley of several of his hits including “Locked Out of Heaven” and “Treasure,” accompanied by a light show and fireworks display.
The Seahawks’ winning night was full of several other major fashion moments—American soprano Renée Fleming sang the National Anthem in a custom Vera Wang ensemble, Red Hot Chili Peppers’ frontman Anthony Kiedis joined Mars for his halftime spectacular in printed leggings by Jeremy Scott, and football legend Joe Namath stepped out to make the coin toss in a massive fur coat.
While we enjoyed all the sartorial moments of the evening, Mars was the definite standout. The crooner scored a fashion touchdown, indeed.
