The 56th annual Grammy Awards certainly didn’t fail to entertain this year. From Beyonce turning up the heat during the opening of the show, to Pink dancing in the air while singing, here are our favorite moments from the night:
1. Beyonce and Jay Z’s Performance Got Taylor Swift Dancing
Beyonce wasn’t the only one dancing during her steamy performance of “Drunk in Love” with Jay Z, country crooner Taylor Swift got out of her seat and shimmied along to the beat in her metallic Gucci chain link dress.
2. Pink’s High-Flying Acrobatics
For Pink’s performance of “Try,” she flew above the crowd, pulling off some impressive aerial tricks while managing to sing live. Now that’s what we call multitasking.
3. Jay Z Gave a Shout Out to Blue Ivy
When Jay Z accepted his Grammy Award for Best Rap/Sung Collaboration for “Holy Grail” with Justin Timberlake, not only did he give a shout out to wife Beyonce, but to their two-year-old daughter Blue Ivy. “Daddy got a gold sippy cup for you,” he said while holding up his gold-plated gramophone. Our hearts melted a bit (ok, a lot).
4. Lorde Won Big
The 17-year-old singer-songwriter from New Zealand has her arms full of gramophones! “This is the one thing did I expect the most about tonight, thank you so much,” Lorde said as she took home some of the night’s biggest awards including Best Pop Solo Performance and Song of the Year for her hit, “Royals.”
5. Bruno Mars Danced Onstage While Accepting His Grammy Award
What’s the best way to celebrate winning Best Pop Vocal Album? For Bruno Mars it’s by doing a little jig onstage, of course! The Locked Out Of Heaven singer took home a Grammy for his second studio album, Unorthodox Jukebox.
6. 33 Couples Got Married
Now this is a first! During Macklemore & Ryan Lewis’ performance of “Same Love” with Mary Lambert, Queen Latifah officiated the marriage of 33 gay and straight couples right from the stage. Once the couples said their “I do’s,” Madonna stepped out singing her hit song, “Open Your Heart” and eventually joined Lambert with finishing “Same Love.”
