At the moment, it seems as though nothing will quell our excitement for the Golden Globes. In anticipation of finding out who will be wearing who down the red carpet, we played stylist and narrowed down our favorite gowns for three leading ladies: Kerry Washington, Amy Adams and Lena Dunham. Read on to see our winning picks for each nominee:

Kerry Washington
What she wore at last year’s Golden Globes: A sheer beaded Miu Miu
What we can see her in this year: This tiered Marchesa creation (middle). Her style is a complex blend that manages to fuse a fierce, fashion-forward attitude with sweet, soft styles. And thanks to her history with the brand, we know a Marchesa gown wouldn’t be out of the ordinary.
What we’d love to see her try: A sleek burgundy J. Mendel gown (right). Even though the color is infinitely richer and bolder than what Washington typically favors on the red carpet, the gown’s off-shoulder straps and intricate bodice hold a daring-yet-romantic aesthetic.

Amy Adams
What she wore at last year’s Golden Globes: A mermaid Marchesa design
What we can see her in this year: An embellished baby-blue Badgley Mischka (middle). The softness and opulence are both in line with what she wore last year, plus the deep sexy neckline is a perfect fit after all the plunging silhouettes from her role in American Hustle!
What we’d love to see her try: This Chanel Couture stunner (right). The mermaid silhouette is one she’s familiar with, but we dare her to inject some edge with a gown that fearlessly mixes texture and metals, complete with the severe pulled back ‘do.

Lena Dunham
What she wore at last year’s Golden Globes:
A plum off-the-shoulder Zac Posen gown
What we can see her in this year: This Valentino Couture gown (middle). Judging from Dunham’s history on the red carpet, we’ve discovered that she gravitates toward dresses that 1) are in jeweled tones, 2) boast bold prints, and 3) flares out at the waist. The gown we’ve chosen for her embodies all three.
What we’d love to see her try: A Marc Jacobs design (right). The uncensored actress is famous for venturing out into unknown territory (in life, in Girls and even in fashion), so this out-there sheer Victorian-inspired gown is right up her alley.
