Chunky sweaters may imply otherwise, but a textured knit can help you stay toasty without adding bulk to your frame. The key? Don’t go too long—it should hit right at the hip for the most flattering fit. We took a Diesel Black Gold sweater ($535; at Diesel Black Gold or Marc by Marc Jacobs, $258, for a similar style) and worked it three ways:
1. In Place of a Blazer
Give your trust work blazer the day off and layer a cream-hued crewneck over an untucked button-front. Show ’em you’re serious but never staid: A dark mini and bright tote get the point across.

2. Over Cropped Pants
After hours, swap out the skirt for metallic pants and your pullover isi cocktail party-ready. To maintain the dressy feel, slip into open-toe skinny-heeled sandals paired with an envelope clutch.

3. With a Mini
Not getting enough mileage out of your colored leather mini? A sweater like this one and other chill-minimizing basics (matte black tights, suede booties) will keep it in the wardrobe rotation all winter long.
