Now this is something worth getting up early for! In celebration of InStyle‘s first-ever shoe collection with Nine West—now available in stores and online at ninewest.com/instyle—staffers and editors enjoyed a special 9 a.m. shopping session to score first dibs on the 26-piece collection just before it became available across the country. A handful of InStylers gathered at the retailer’s Lexington Avenue flagship store in New York City at 9 a.m. to scoop up the heels, booties and wedges in pretty leathers and fun animal prints. Lady Gaga is back — and her return comes with a new look. While promoting her latest album ARTPOP, Mother Monster stepped out in a sleek black dress by Balmain, and a clean white number by Mathieu Mirano. In lieu of her sky-high hair and avant-garde makeup choices, Gaga also went the minimalist route with her beauty routine, opting for a short crop, sculpted brows and a pop-of-color lip. After getting used to seeing the star dressed in Kermit the Frog coats and raw meat, these classic glam ensembles rate as surprising style choices. Why dial it down? That’s why we want to know what you think. Do you like her new look? Tell us by voting in the poll below.

Modern Family‘s Ty Burrell, Julie Bowen, and Jesse Tyler Ferguson were one happy family at last night’s Academy of Television Arts & Sciences 2013 Performers Peer Group Reception, held at the Sheraton Universal Hotel in Los Angeles. The event brought together some of TV’s biggest stars to celebrate the upcoming 65th Primetime Emmy Awards, which will be hosted by the charming Neil Patrick Harris on September 22nd and air live on CBS. The cast of Modern Family has a lot to celebrate as the show is nominated for Outstanding Comedy Series, as are Burrell, Ferguson, and Ed O’Neill for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series, and Bowen and Sofia Vergara for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series. Best of luck to the cast! Click the photo to see more of this week’s star-filled fetes.
Wearing sheer has always been tricky, especially in light of summer fashion when clothes become less opaque and hemlines ride up. Instead of being publicly exposed, address the sheer situation once and for all by pinpointing the right underthings you need (think: pretty print camisoles to lacy chemises). Behind-the-Scenes at Robert Pattinson’s Dior Homme Campaign: Polished, Sexy and Classic, Just Like HimAug 20, 2013 @ 3:00 pm
We haven’t seen much of Robert Pattinson since the Golden Globes earlier this year, so seeing him in a sneak peek for his new Dior Homme cologne campaign is delightfully refreshing. Shot by artist Nan Goldin for Germany’s TUSH online, Pattinson’s video showcases behind-the-scenes snapshots, with New York City serving as the backdrop. The campaign will roll out in full starting in October, and if the teaser images are at all telling, we’re expecting it to be polished, sexy and classic — not unlike the scent’s amber, vetiver, and leather blend, or Rob himself for that matter. Watch the preview in the video above, and find the Dior Homme fragrance, priced from $60 to $80, at sephora.com.

Part of loving fashion is loving change. The nature of fashion is that it’s constantly evolving and growing; there are (at least) two seasons a year that designers constantly fill with new creations, and more if you count Resort and other special one-off collections. For many of us, this equates to a longing to change up our standard look—but that can be quite a challenge. The key is knowing where to start: identify what precisely is making you feel unsatisfied with your current look, and go from there. Is it your lack of color variation? Is it that you hide behind loud prints and patterns? Do your clothes not fit you well? Are you buying lots of cheap stuff instead of a few quality pieces? Ask yourself some basic questions, figure out what’s causing your discontent, and then you can proceed. Once you have an idea of what you’d like to change, click to get some quick, easy tips on how to shake up your style from there. The path to a newer, more stylish you is much less complicated than it seems.
Who says you have to toss out your summer favorites once fall rolls around? Instead of dropping Benjamins on overhauling your current wardrobe, we’ve scouted five key items that can extend the life of your hot-weather pieces. For example, the sweet peek-a-boo lace dress you wore as the temperatures rose can easily transition into fall — just top it off with a leather jacket to add a tough edge. Additionally, sleeveless leather dresses can get a cozy touch when paired with a chunky knit. Talk about double-duty! Click through to see more tips on how you can stretch your summer items right into fall.
