The August issue of InStyle has a special feature! One of Hollywood’s hottest leading couples, Olivia Wilde and Jason Sudeikis, both star in the issue with Wilde making her debut as an InStyle cover girl and Sudeikis as this month’s “Man of Style.” The obviously smitten couple, who began dating in November 2011, have quickly become one of the most stylish (and probably one of the funniest) duos around. “She is a combination of everything that I love about women—she’s smart, strong, caring, beautiful, and as funny as anybody I’ve ever known,” Sudeikis says of his fiancé in the issue. “She just has it all. It’s like the most gorgeous Costco you’ve ever seen in your life.” And since they appear in this month’s issue together, it’s only fitting to look back at their time as a power couple. Julianne Moore has gone blonde! In a move that totally surprised us, the actress lightened her trademark auburn strands for her part in the upcoming film Maps to the Stars. While we do miss her red hair, we think the look is flattering on her, and we can’t wait to see the new outfit and accessory choices she’ll pair with her new hue. “People always say red-heads look good in green, and I think that’s true. I gravitate toward emeralds,” she told InStyle previously on her jewelry choices. “I’ve tried rubies, but they disappear on me.” Looks like now is the perfect time to give the gems a second try! Do you like her new hairstyle? Tell us in the comments.

Olivia Wilde is InStyle‘s August cover girl! At 29, her life is beginning a whole new chapter. She moved across the country from Los Angeles to settle in New York. She is recently engaged to funnyman Jason Sudeikis. (“I love this engagement thing,” she says. “It’s like its own period in my life, and I really want to inhabit it.”) And she has a spate of hotly anticipated movies on deck, including Rush, a film directed by Ron Howard out this fall, and she just wrapped filming Third Person with Liam Neeson. Leave it to other actresses to play the diva or suck the air out of the room. She prefers to wave the whole “star” thought away with a laugh. That’s just one reason we fell in love with our August cover girl. Scroll down to find out three things you’ll learn in the issue. To read the full story, pick up the new InStyle, on newsstands and available for download to your tablet starting Friday, July 12.
Editor’s Note: The following is excerpted from the Olivia Wilde cover story, “Into Her Own” by Nancy Hass, which originally appears in InStyle’s August 2013 issue.
1. HER CONFIDENCE IS INSPIRING
“I’m pretty comfortable in my own skin,” she says. “I’m not the neurotic type. I don’t think there are things lurking everywhere to destroy me. I live pretty much in the present.”
2. WHAT IT IS LIKE BEING IN LOVE WITH JASON SUDEIKIS
“I like having a real partner. It’s the model I grew up with. It’s part of why I was able to take so many chances in my life, because I felt like someone was watching my back. I could never imagine life without someone I respect, someone who offers me infinite possibilities,” she says. And she’s willing to take on the challenges that come with having two performers in a couple. “There are spikes and dips and plateaus in this business. I’ve seen couples fall apart through it, and it is heartbreaking. You wonder what will happen—will he love me if I’m not as successful? Will jealousy kill us? I know there will be times when Jason is working more than I am, but I’m actually excited by that. I’m excited by what he will become, what depth he has.”
3. HOW HER STYLE HAS EVOLVED: FROM BOY INSPIRATION TO RED CARPET SUPERSTAR
“I used to dress like [bluesman] John Lee Hooker, with wide-collared polyester shirts and corduroy suits. Boys were my role models back then.” Now, she’s a red carpet fixture. “I have the torso of a tall woman and the lower body of a short woman. Who knows what evolutionary purpose I’ve been made for?” she jokes. “People always told me I had nice eyes, so I accentuated that.”
On the cover: Chanel jacket and belt (worn as bracelet) and Guess jeans. Inside image: Louis Vuitton top, pants and belt. Perrin Paris gloves. Bottega Veneta handbag.
The number of roses is dwindling on The Bachelorette as Desiree Hartsock comes closer to the end of her quest for love. All season long, we’re watching along with former Bachelorette Emily Maynard, who is sharing her top outfit picks exclusively with InStyle.com each week. Last night’s episode was one of Maynard’s favorites because Des wore her favorite look: Sequins! “Since doing this blog, it’s become clear to me that I love sequins way too much. You could sew them on a sleeping bag, tell me it’s a dress, and I would have to have it in my closet,” Maynard told us. “That explains my obsession with Desiree’s striped sequins skirt on her date with Chris this week.” See more of Maynard’s favorite looks from last night (both sparkly and subdued) by clicking through the gallery, then check back every week for updates.
It was a date night in Hollywood! Joshua Jackson showed his support for longtime girlfriend Diane Kruger (in Jonathan Saunders) at the premiere of her new FX series The Bridge in Los Angeles last night. In the show—executive produced by Meredith Stiehm, the woman behind popular drama Homeland—Kruger portrays a detective from the El Paso Police Department who must work with her Mexican counterpart (Demián Bichir) from the Chihuahua State Police in order to catch a serial killer who is committing crimes on both sides of the border. The Bridge premieres tomorrow, July 10, at 10/9c on FX. Click the photo to see more photos from this week’s star-filled parties.
Discontinued products are the stuff of beauty nightmares, but not for MAC Cosmetics. The beauty brand is once again launching its MAC by Request program, which allows fans to vote on the discontinued eye shadows and lipsticks that should make a return. This year’s color palette is full of shades from the ’90s grunge era, including bold lip colors and one-size-fits-all shadows among the many options. We couldn’t help but think of Kate Moss’ sexy smoldering eye and tawny neutral lip at the mention of MAC’s focus on ’90s makeup, which is why we voted for the pinky-nude lipstick in Flavour and the eye shadow in Fiction. The deep hue acts as a one-step smoky eye with a slight olive tint, and we’re loving the rocker-chic vibe it exudes when blended along your lower lash line. The six shades with the most votes (three eye shadows and three lipsticks) will make their triumphant return to MAC counters and maccosmetics.com next spring. Voting is open right now on the brand’s Facebook page, and you’ll be able to cast one ballot per product category each day until July 21.
