Yes or No: Do You Bring Your Boyfriend Shopping? (Maria Menounos Says Yes!)

Mar 21, 2013 @ 6:10 pm

Does your other half come with you shopping? It’s a question we always wonder—especially when we see men awkwardly lingering outside the dressing rooms—and whenever we ask readers, the answers are mostly split. Some say leave ‘em home, while others say bring ‘em with you! Extra‘s Maria Menounos—the new ambassador for Marshall’s (the retailer’s new spring stock is in stores now)—says yes, he should tag along. “My boyfriend [Keven Undergaro] is the best because he will definitely tell me the truth,” she told InStyle.com. “And I like that he’s going to give me a guy’s perspective. Shopping with girls is tougher because we’re looking at it with one lens and that’s just ‘What Do We Think Is Cool.’ But really, women should be dressing for men more than they should be dressing for women.” But that’s just one opinion. What’s yours? Tell us by voting in the poll below!

Hello, Pierre Niney! Meet the Man Who Will Play Yves Saint Laurent

Mar 21, 2013 @ 5:50 pm

The Yves Saint Laurent film that will follow the late designer’s rise from Dior assistant to fashion visionary was only just announced, but already 18-year-old Pierre Niney has been cast as a young YSL. So, who is Pierre Niney? According to his Twitter (@pierreniney), the Frenchman describes himself as a actor, director, and author—a jack of all trades whose first language is the same as Saint Laurent’s. (Brownie points for authenticity.) He’s appeared in a impressive list of film festival-bound films, and photographs prove he can work Saint Laurent’s trademark thick-rimmed glasses with ease. The film is due out until 2014. Will you see it?

Hot Designer Collaboration Alert: Catherine Malandrino for Kohl’s, Coming This Fall

Mar 21, 2013 @ 3:00 pm

Hot on the very colorful heels of Derek Lam’s spring collaboration with Kohl’s, the retailer just announced their next DesigNation partnership for fall 2013: Catherine Malandrino. The limited-edition line of shirts, dresses, skirts, pants, and more is sure to be extra-special, as it’s inspired by a recent trip Malandrino took to her hometown of Paris. “What I find inspiring is to look at Paris with the step back approach of a tourist. The line is the illustration of a Paris dream for the American woman,” InStyle.com learned from Malandrino, who gave us an exclusive sneak peek of what we can expect from the line. “The nightlife and glamor of a show at the Crazy Horse inspired me to use black tulle and fishnet with a touch of sparkle. The chic [style] in the Saint Germain district, just a trench coat and a little black dress.” Expect a Kohl’s take on her romantic runway looks (see pieces from her fall 2013 runway collection at right), all at Kohl’s affordable prices—everything in the collection will be between $36 and $130 when it launches in Kohl’s stores and on kohls.com this fall. Tres chic!

Isn’t It Nice to Be Beyonce: See the Singer’s $5,500 Custom Sneaker Wedges

Mar 21, 2013 @ 2:35 pm

PMK Customs considers itself the “Maybach” of the couture sneaker world, which is why when Jay-Z and Beyonce wanted their kicks customized, they turned to founder Andre Scott. The brand crafted Jay’s red Nike-striped “Brooklyn Zoo” Jordans out of a hybrid of luxury reptile skins ($2,500), and Queen Bey liked them so much, she asked the designer to put a fresh twist on her Isabel Marant wedges, too. That’s how her creamy “King Bey” shoes came to be, an ostrich/crocodile/anaconda mix stitched together with gold thread ($5,500). “[The customization] mimics the southern belle’s sweet and fierce persona,” Scott told InStyle.com. “They are two very humble and inspirational people, and to have them part of our network is a true blessing.” Especially when the customers are so impressed by extreme attention to detail—Johnson said he had no edits to the specialized pieces. Check out more of PMK’s custom works at pmkcutoms.com and follow their Twitter @pmkcustoms.

Step-by-Step: How to Get Mad Men Star Jessica Pare’s ’80s-Inspired Low Ponytail

Mar 21, 2013 @ 1:30 pm

Jessica Paré may be swinging in the ’60s on Mad Men, but for the season 6 premiere, she worked with hairstylist Marcus Francis to get a throwback ’80s look instead. “We love to collaborate to make each hairstyle we do different from the last,” said Francis, who explained that this time, they were inspired by Robert Palmer’s “Addicted to Love” music video. And you can get her latest look, too! Francis began with damp hair, which he blow-dried with a round brush. Then he lightly teased the crown and smoothed the sides with a Mason Pearson bristle brush ($99 at barneys.com). He used a few pumps of Moroccanoil Luminous Hairspray ($22 at moroccanoil.com) to make sure her chocolate strands stayed in place, then finally secured it all at the nape of her neck. “It made her very feminine [Prabal Gurung] dress look modern and sexy.” Welcome to the future, Megan Draper!
