Eva Mendes for Vogue Eyewear: “I’ve Wanted Glasses My Whole Life!”

Eva Mendes is the new face of Vogue Eyewear, and she couldn’t be more excited—because she finally gets to wear the eyeglasses she’s always wished she needed! At the launch of her Mario Testino-shot campaign in Los Angeles, Mendes (wearing a lace Valentino frock that made it into our Look of the Day roundup) confessed to InStyle.com, “I know this sounds really strange, but I’ve wanted [to wear eyeglasses] my whole life! I remember the little kids in like the 4th or 5th grade that were so cute, and I thought they were special because they got to wear glasses.” And now that she does need them, she has plenty to choose from! The actress modeled cat-eye reading glasses and Jackie O. sunnies side-by-side in her campaign, and she told us she created a character for each look. “They had names like Carmen and Maria. Like, Carmen’s excited to go back to school! Adding a back story made things more fun.” Most importantly, her new shades offer her the protection she needs. “Living in beautiful Los Angeles, the sun is almost always out. It’s rare to catch me without sunglasses when I’m out and about running my errands.” A great reason to need them! Shop all of the looks Eva is modeling here on vogue-eyewear.com.

It’s #ThrowbackThursday! We’re Remembering When Beyonce Was InStyle’s Cover Girl

Mar 14, 2013 @ 3:30 pm

We never put our love for Beyonce to the left! And that’s why, in honor of #ThrowbackThursday, we posted this fun shot to @InStyleMagazine’s Instagram account, showing off Mrs. Sean Carter’s November 2008 InStyle cover. Then, the superstar told us, “I am happy right now and this album has a lot of love songs that talk about my emotions—me naked with my heart exposed.” And she has plenty more to be happy about—she just celebrated her daughter, Blue Ivy‘s, first birthday. Happy Thursday, @baddiebey!

Hollywood’s most influential stylists and their devoted celebrity clients gathered yesterday at Soho House in West Hollywood to attend The Hollywood Reporter & Jimmy Choo’s Top Stylist luncheon. The fete celebrated the industry’s twenty-five most powerful stylists, as named by The Hollywood Reporter in their second annual Top Stylists issue. And stars like Zoe Saldana (in Carven), Nina Dobrev (in Max Mara), and Naomi Watts (in Erdem) were all on-hand to support the women who help them turn heads—both on and off the red carpet. “I just know whatever she puts together for me, I’ll feel like the prettiest girl in the room,” Saldana said of her long-time stylist, Petra Flannery (second left). “I wish every girl felt that way.” Actress Naomi Watts also gushed about her stylist, Jeanann Williams (far right). “The great thing about working together is that we know each other so well. We spend a lot of time together. She has the kind of style and fashion sense that I’ve spied on for years.” We want to share them, too!

In Honor of Taylor Swift’s “22″ Video, Her 22 Best Dresses Ever

Mar 14, 2013 @ 12:30 pm

Taylor Swift just dropped her latest single, “22″—and ode to her best friends Emma Stone, Selena Gomez, and Dianna Agron—and here’s the video she filmed for it, complete with more of her closest gal pals from home! “It feels like a perfect night to dress up like hipsters and make fun of our exes,” Swift sings the opening line of her anthem (above) while popping on a pair of retro black frames, paired with plaid and colored denim, which she eventually swaps out for heart-shaped shades. A cute look for her to work while bouncing around a kitchen full of desserts with her closet lady friends! But while we love her casual style here, we also love the way she works a high-fashion red carpet look. That’s why we rounded up our 22 favorite Taylor dresses, just for “22.” Click through to see them all—and turn up the volume!
