In Honor of Tonight’s Fashion Star Premiere, Host Louise Roe Tells InStyle All About Her First Look… Read It Here!

Mar 8, 2013 @ 5:00 pm

Tonight is the very first episode of Fashion Star, and I’m super pumped! I was so excited to get out there on the runway and begin hosting the show, and I chose a bright red gown by Black Halo for the premiere. (That’s the same designer who made me a gorgeous blush dress for the Oscars last year, and their tailoring is amazing.) I wanted to balance out the formal, structured red dress with a boho edge, so instead of classic jewels, I picked a wooden cocktail ring from BCBG, and chunky gold bangles from Le Vian. My makeup artist Rachel Wood warmed up the look with a rich brown smoky eye,  clean, gleaming skin, bronzed, contoured cheeks, and beachy waves pinned loosely to the side. Oh and my shoes! You could just catch a glimpse of the gunmetal silver cut-out patterns on my Giuseppe Zanotti heels. I’m obsessed with gunmetal this season. After seeing it on Naomi Watts, Sandra Bullock and Stacy Keibler at the Academy Awards, it’s definitely the new metallic for spring.

Of all the seriously fabulous costumes in Oz the Great and Powerful (and there are plenty) there is one piece that we couldn’t peel our eyes away from: Evanora’s emerald necklace. Rachel Weisz, the woman behind the witch, does a fabulous job of representing Pantone’s color of the year with her bauble, and we loved it so much, we found four similar pieces you can wear well after the film’s magic has worn off. Get the Look: Maria Menounos’s Metallic Manicure

Mar 8, 2013 @ 4:26 pm

Maria Menounos’s nails looked “extra” special yesterday at the announcement of her partnership with Marshall’s in New York City—she’s the retailer’s new Style Ambassador—and we got the inside scoop on her metallic manicure. Turns out, they were a spur-of-the-moment decision. “I realized I had no time to get my nails done, so I went into CVS and I bought Essie’s nail stickers,” the host told us of her funky fingers, which we snapped for InStyle’s Instagram. “I did them on the plane in five minutes. I was so blown away about how cool they looked that I called all the flight attendants to my seat and showed them how to do it! It’s so easy.” Menounos chose Essie’s Sleek Stickers in Sneek-E, one of 12 designs available from the nail brand. Get yours for $10.25 at zappos.com.

The Sweet Story Behind Josie Maran’s New Argan Body Butter

Mar 8, 2013 @ 2:56 pm

Coveted for its ultra-hydrating and skin-healing qualities, argan oil does just about everything—something model Josie Maran capitalized on for her argan-infused makeup, skin, and hair line. For spring, Maran added a new version of her cult-favorite body butter to her collection, drawing upon childhood memories to inspire the honeysuckle and white tea scent. “My mom is a baker, so when I was a kid, there were always delicious fragrances drifting out of the kitchen,” she told InStyle.com exclusively. “I created the vanilla, honeysuckle, and white tea scent with those memories in mind, and the whipped, creamy goodness of the body butter makes my grownup skin just as happy!” The rich formula acts as a tall glass of water for tired winter skin (yum!), and you can shop it for $30 at qvc.com. Plus, see it in action when Maran launches the product during the season premiere of The Lisa Robertson Show tonight at 10 p.m. EST on QVC.
