With a baby on the way for Duchess Catherine and Prince William off saving stranded hikers in Wales, the royal family is always in the spotlight. And while she may be gone, Princess Diana is never forgotten: she’s one of the most well-known style icons of all time, and a collection of her most iconic dresses will soon be auctioned off by London auction house Kerry Taylor. Included in the auction are these four pieces above—from left, the sequin-covered Catherine Walker (1989), a plunging black velvet gown by Bruce Oldfield (1985), the one-shoulder ivory crepe gown with pink sequin appliques by Catherine Walker (1991), and this off-the-shoulder midnight blue Victor Edelstein velvet gown (1985), where she unforgettably twirled on the dance floor with actor John Travolta. The dresses are expected to fetch anywhere between $45,000 to $400,000—all to own a piece of princess history. Click here to see the rest of the dresses up for auction, and check out the Today show’s video highlighting more of the designer details.

Loved Diana’s fashion in later years. I wish she and Charles had worked things out. Had she been older and more mature when they married and if Camilla had never been a huge factor, I think they could have made it work. She seemed like she was in love with love and he, well, he needed a wife who had an acceptable “pedigree.”
I don’t understand why people deify her, though, and revile Charles. Neither of them were perfect and Charles has done a good job in helping raise the boys.
