Why InStyle Loved Prada’s Disheveled Chic for Fall

Feb 22, 2013 @ 6:30 pm

Fashion Week is in Milan, and InStyle’s Fashion Director Cindy Weber Cleary is there with it, scooping up the latest. Her favorite look from today’s lineup: Prada‘s cool-girl vibes. “The models in Miuccia Prada’s sensual, spectacular fall collection looked intentionally disheveled,” says Weber Cleary. “With wet hair, off-kilter layers, and weekend-bag sized satchels, it was as if they stepped out of the shower and had to dress quickly before running out the door.” And yet so chic!

New In Stores: Hermès’ Jour D’Hermès Fragrance!

Feb 22, 2013 @ 5:04 pm

Hermès just launched a must-have for spring! After years of work by creator Jean-Claude Ellena, the label’s Jour D’Hermès fragrance is now in stores. “I started to work on Jour D’Hermès nearly three years ago,” Ellena told InStyle.com at the perfume’s launch event. “The first draft used wood and patchouli notes, and smells nothing like it does today. It’s very classic, but in other ways it’s modern since it doesn’t smell old-fashioned.” Housed in a light-catching flacon designed by Pierre Hardy, the scent uses light florals with a slight citrus twist, but the specific bouquet is up to your own interpretation. “It isn’t about one flower in particular. People can choose, and I think it’s more feminine that way,” Ellena added. Pick up a bottle, priced from $108 to $149, at hermes.com now!

Alfre Woodard hosted a private dinner at a beautiful Hollywood Hills home to honor iconic actress Diahann Carroll (in Armani), and InStyle had exclusive access to the elegant affair. The girls-only guest list—including honorees Halle Berry (in Pavoni by Mikael D.), Emayatzy Corinealdi, Kerry Washington (in J. Mendel), and Lorraine Toussaint—celebrated the power of womanhood with the ultimate in Girl Talk, Oprah Winfrey. “I’ve been invited for five years and this is the first time I’ve ever been able to come!” Winfrey (in Donna Karan) told InStyle.com. “It’s such a wonderful gathering. I am just proud that I was asked and after all these years, I’m here. I’m late, but I’m here!” The guests dined on a lobster trio and lamb and sipped on Remy Martin cocktails while they mingled and took in views of downtown Los Angeles through the clear glass panels that made up the dining room floor. Ever since Christian Dior announced that Oscar nominee Jennifer Lawrence would be the face of its Miss Dior handbag collection in October, she’s been wearing Dior Couture gown after Dior Couture gown for the Golden Globes, SAGs, and BAFTA Awards in support of her new gig. And—not a moment too soon, on the weekend the Silver Linings Playbook star might take home Oscar gold—Dior released the campaign featuring glamorous shots of its new celebrity model showing off the latest Miss Dior chain bags. Now that these are out, we’re more sure than ever that we’ll see the actress in another Dior design at this Sunday’s Academy Awards, too. “I am going to go for fashion this time [at the Oscars],” Lawrence told InStyle.com. “I say that, but that’s the problem with the Oscars, they’re always at the end, where you are just exhausted from dressing up, so I never care. Now, I will. Fashion.” And Dior fashion at that! Tell us: Do you like her model style?
