Classic American style ruled the king of prep’s fall runway! Tommy Hilfiger‘s borrowed-from-the-boys suiting featured menswear materials like pinstripes, houndstooth and argyle—all with a feminine twist: leather appliques, fur trims and polka-dot accents. Rounding out the boy-meets-girl aesthetic were collegiate-worthy knee high sock and boots, coordinating wool fedoras and ultra chic metallic brogues, courtesy of a collaboration with George Esquivel. ”This collection is really about Saville Row meets Ivy League prep,” Hilfiger told InStyle.com after his show. From the first pluck of the violin, it was clear that Carolina Herrera was putting on an opulent show for fall. The symphony of rich fabrics like fur, silk, sequins, and velvet—both accenting the designs and worn head-to-toe—was made all the more lavish with bold jewel tones, including sapphire, plum, and (of course!) Pantone’s Color of the Year, emerald. The womanly designer wrapped up the collection with waist-cinching belts and what else: bows! Click through to see our favorite looks.
What makes a great Grammys look? Fabulous shoes! We asked the stars attending the InStyle and Warner Music Group party to reveal their designer footwear for the evening, and captured all the high heel action on video. Christina Perri described her Gucci pair as “comfortable” and “totally worth it,” Kimbra said her Miu Miu sandals made her “feel like a princess,” and Dita Von Teese pulled her sky-high Christian Louboutins straight from his Paris atelier. “They were something he was working on,” Von Teese says. “He was like, ‘Just take them,’ and the matching bag, too!” Watch the clip above to get more inside scoop on the hottest (and highest) heels of the night!

The Grammys red carpet is always fun to watch, and InStyle was there to capture all of this year’s excitement! In the clip above, InStyle Managing Editor Ariel Foxman recounts all of the biggest style, beauty, jewelry, and designer moments of the night, live from the InStyle/Warner Music Group post-Grammys bash, held at the Chateau Marmont. “Artists were told to cover up this Grammys, but no one wants to walk the red carpet and not look sexy,” he says, noting the packed-with-sex-appeal looks of Taylor Swift, Alicia Keys, Kelly Osbourne, and more. Diane von Furstenberg called her fall collection “Life of the Party,” and for good reason—the iconic designer took the audience on a wild ride through her ’70s-era Studio 54 days. This inspiration translated into bold prints, flowing chiffon, shimmering lamé, and effortlessly-cool dresses (and that includes her timeless wrap styles). For the girl-on-the-go, she offered up fringe hobos, bright clutches, and versatile platforms. The designer went on to describe her inspiration as a woman who is “the rock star and muse of her own life life,” much like the designer herself! See our favorite looks in the gallery.

Barbie just put her Malibu dream house on the market to the tune of $25 million, and she’s searching for some inspiration on her quest for a new place to live—and she’s getting a little help from designer Trina Turk. ”We’re designing the outdoor pool area for Barbie’s next dream house,” Turk told InStyle.com during her New York Fashion Week fall 2013 presentation. “That’s our next project!” And what a project it is: the “8,500 square foot home” is bright pink (no surprise there!), so we can’t wait to see what print lover Trina does to re-imagine the space. Stay tuned!
