Cinderella Heads to Broadway in Custom Stuart Weitzman Glass Slippers

Feb 8, 2013 @ 6:16 pm

Cinderella is headed to Broadwaythe musical officially opens March 3—and with it, her long-lost glass slipper gets a major designer overhaul. Stuart Weitzman teamed up with the costume designers behind the show to create a modern version of the iconic footwear, a Plexiglas design encrusted with more than 5,000 iridescent Swarovski crystals. “This is not a traditional Cinderella shoe,” Weitzman told InStyle.com. “It had to stand out. It couldn’t be a clear glass slipper from the fairytale or even the front row wouldn’t be able to see it!” And his princess-worthy designs aren’t just for the stage. Weitzman designed a capsule collection of special occasion shoes named “Clearly Timeless,” all inspired by the Broadway show. Shop the Cinderella collection at stuartweitzman.com. The only thing missing is Prince Charming!

Runway Looks We Love: Jason Wu’s Fall Collection Features the Same Red as Michelle Obama’s Gown

Feb 8, 2013 @ 5:46 pm

Jason Wu called his fall 2013 collection “Extreme Femininity,” and for good reason—each of the 43 looks that walked the reflective silver runway featured nipped-in, waist-defining silhouettes that celebrated the female form. The sleek black, white, and gray color palette was punctuated by shots of red (similar to the memorable hue of the First Lady’s Inaugural Ball gown), as well as a scene-stealing violet peplum gown that closed the show. See our favorite looks from the show in the gallery!

Celebrity Stylist Cher Coulter Wants You in Her Jeans

Feb 8, 2013 @ 5:36 pm

Celebrity stylist Cher Coulter has styled some of the best-dressed stars on the red carpetKate BosworthRosie Huntington-Whiteley, and Elizabeth Olsen among them—and now she’s turning her attention to… you. The stylist teamed up with AG Adridano Goldschmied to create a capsule, which she launched with a bash at Scoop NYC during New York Fashion Week. The line is made with four unique jeans personalities in mind, Coulter explained, the classic, the rocker, the sex bomb, and the eclectic. “What I’ve found since designing these four separate things is that what’s great is that every girl is bit of everything,” she told InStyle.com of the lineup, which includes floral print shorts, vests. “That’s the beauty of it. And that’s fashion, and that’s individuality. If fashion’s not fun, it’s boring.” Shop the collection, starting at $185, in stores and at scoopnyc.com.

Kate Spade’s 20th Anniversary Collection Is New York-Inspired

Kate Spade New York’s fall 2013 collection is definitely in an Empire State of mind! Creative Director Deborah Lloyd and Head Stylist Brad Goreski were both on-hand to unveil the brand’s 20th anniversary collection, complete with whimsical prints by artist Craig Redman and must-have bow-adorned “beau” bags. ”New York is the city our brand started in 20 years ago, so the inspiration is ‘when you first come to the city,‘” Lloyd told InStyle.com, explaining that even the pink leopard print featured was inspired by Studio 54. “When I came in the ’80s, driving into Manhattan and seeing that amazing skyline, I felt all the energy and the possibility, and that what this is about.” Goreski added that his favorite piece is the sparkling tuxedo heels. (Were the black bow-ties on them a nod to his own style? “Maybe!” he laughed.) The beauty also incorporated the history of the brand, as all of the models sported long nails polished in black or pink with gold studs that looked just like the quilting on Spade’s chain bags. Congratulations, Kate Spade on 20 years—here’s to many more anniversaries!
