The Heart Truth’s annual Red Collection Fashion Show helped kick off New York Fashion Week tonight! Seventeen stars—including the Jenner clan (who presented a united fashion front in Badgley Mischka), fitness expert Jillian Michaels (in Cushnie et Ochs), Jamie Chung (in David Meister), and more—channeled their inner models to strut down the runway in New York’s Hammerstein Ballroom wearing vibrant red dresses by a variety of designers, combining fashion and famous faces to help raise awareness for heart disease. “Losing my mom because she wasn’t healthy really inspired me to live a healthy life,” two-time Red Dress Fashion Show model Minka Kelly (in Oscar de la Renta) told InStyle.com of the event, which was sponsored by the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute, Diet Coke, and WebMD. “It made sense to get involved and to inspire other women to take care of their hearts. This was a very lucky opportunity for me.” And there’s another reason to get involved, which Today anchor Savannah Guthrie (in Carolina Hererra) put best: “Who doesn’t dream of getting glammed up from time to time and having this experience?” Indeed! “I’m so nervous!” Kelly Osbourne told InStyle.com backstage before she hit the runway for The Heart Truth’s Red Collection 11th Anniversary Fashion Show, sponsored by the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute, Diet Coke, and WebMD. The butterflies-in-the-stomach feeling was one that radiated through backstage at the Hammerstein Ballroom in New York, where 17 stars prepared to walk the runway for a cause—raising awareness for women’s heart health—and InStyle.com had an all-access pass to see every mani, makeup, and hair strand get perfectly in place. “It’s so out of my comfort zone,” fitness guru Jillian Michaels said as she primped for the show. “But this is such a cool event, I’m so excited. Not only about awareness, it’s also just fun!” Click through the gallery to all of the candid behind-the-scenes moments.

Italian fashion house Marni celebrated the launch its first fragrance in New York, and some of the luxe label’s fans—including Alexa Chung and Christina Ricci—came to the brand’s Meatpacking District store to toast to its release. “It was important for us was to create a fragrance we could wear,” Carolina Castiglioni, daughter of Marni creative director Consuelo Castiglioni, told InStyle.com of the perfume, which mixes woodsy musk undertones with notes of fragrant rose to create a feminine-meets-masculine scent. “We started from what we liked. We had to select from hundred of raw materials for the note and follow our instinct.” And now you can shop it! Pick up the Marni scent, as well as body lotion, body cream, travel versions, for $50 to $155 at saksfifthavenue.com.

Anna Karenina Costume Designer Jacqueline Durran on Prepping the Biggest Costume of All: The Oscars

Feb 6, 2013 @ 5:30 pm

Jacqueline Durran has three Oscar nominations for Costume Design under her belt: one in 2005 for Pride & Prejudice, one in 2007 for Atonement, and now, this year for the stunning period-meets-modern pieces she created for Keira Knightley and cast in Anna Karenina. So when it comes to the Big Night itself, Durran, of course, is going to walk the legendary red carpet in a design by her own hand. “I’m going to have something made,” Durran told InStyle.com of her Oscars dress. “I designed it myself and sent it to a costume maker I’ve worked with for 20 years. I haven’t really finished it, but it’s a little bit modern and little bit period. It’s not really like Karenina, but it’s a mixed up look.” She has yet to determine the fabrics, but the color is dead set. “It will probably be predominantly dark blue,” she said. “I love dark blue.” Keep your eyes peeled for Jacqueline’s one-of-a-kind creation February 24, when she attends the Academy Awards in hopes of a win in the Costume Design category.

New Girl Fashion: Zooey Deschanel’s Blue Dress Was Custom Made

Feb 6, 2013 @ 4:33 pm

On last night’s New Girl episode, Jess Day (Zooey Deschanel) needed a dress for an Indian-themed wedding, so the show’s costume designer Deb McGuire had one custom made. ”It’s a halter silhouette that always looks great on Jess,” McGuire said.  ”The folders and details in the scene were all royal blue and I thought it appropriate for her dress to match and complete the palette. Just a small, visual subliminal detail.” How fun! Find out what else Deschanel wore on Possessionista.com.

Nicola Formichetti Designs Limited-Edition Bag for Shopbop

Feb 6, 2013 @ 4:28 pm

Thierry Mugler artistic director Nicola Formichetti—and stylist to stars like Lady Gaga and Kim Kardashiandesigned a limited-edition of Muglerette bag for shopbop.com, and it’s now available. “I was kind of an anti-wearable person before, and now I want my girls to wear things,” Formichetti told InStyle.com of the bag’s design. “I’ve started really looking at girls again. Not like Gaga and Beyoncé, but real girls.” Formichetti said that the limited-edition bag (only 20 were made!) was inspired by the core DNA of the Mugler brand. “The hardware was inspired from the body armor of the Mugler dresses. So it’s kind of like a mini Mugler museum.” Each graffiti-splattered bag ($1,945) features a slightly different illustration by Nicola, making them all unique. Head to shopbop.com to take a closer look.

The Bachelor Episode 6: Emily Maynard’s Favorite Looks

Feb 6, 2013 @ 4:21 pm

Watching Sean Lowe’s season of The Bachelor is extra fun, as we’re asking one of our favorite fashionable Bachelorettes, Emily Maynard (Lowe came in third on Emily’s season), to tell us which of the contestants had the prettiest outfits each week. Last night, the show headed to Canada where the bachelorettes did a polar bear plunge and attempted to stay warm in the frigid temperatures. “It’s hard to find something to wear to a cocktail party in the wintertime because you want to look good, but you also don’t want to freeze to death,” Emily told InStyle.com, noting that Lindsay’s winter white dress topped her list of favorites. Click through the gallery to see the other outfits Emily loved most on last night’s episode.
