Beyonce’s Super Bowl Manicure: You Can Wear Her Gold Nails!

Feb 4, 2013 @ 5:27 pm

It was hard not to notice Beyoncé’s solid gold manicure when she asked the 108.4 million viewers of the Super Bowl to “put a ring on it” during her epic halftime performance. And those nails kept shining thanks to some careful planning from her manicurist Lisa Logan. “The process was very time-consuming,” said Logan, who flew to New Orleans a week early to prep the nails with the Gold and Matte Gold Chevrons decal by Minx for Bey and her team of 10 dancers. “All the dancers had to be wearing the same design. Because their nails were so long, I needed to use two Minx templates to cover each tip!” The gold design was used to film the holographic portion of Knowles’s show, and thanks to the long-wear ability, Beyoncé was able to wear the manicure through the week with no touch-ups needed on game day. The same decal Bey wore is available in salons; head to minxnails.com to find a Minx pro near you.

Kate Spade Named This New Bag After Pippa Middleton

Feb 4, 2013 @ 5:18 pm

Pippa Middleton, everyone’s favorite royal-in-law, inspired more fashion in her name—a bag by Kate Spade New York! The brand’s just-released spring 2013 collection boasts a structured bowler called the “Catherine Street Pippa” ($398 on katespade.com), and it comes in spring’s mint, pink, and cocoa, as well as tried-and-true black and a striped version, too. This is a sweet surprise, though we already knew creative director Deborah Lloyd is a huge fan. “They’re so gorgeous, they’re so down to earth, they are just intelligent, lovely girls who have really got their feet on the ground,” Lloyd had told InStyle.com of the Middletons. And the feeling is mutual—Pippa’s been spotted in plenty of Spade products!

How NBC’s Smash Is Involved in Donna Karan’s Leggy New Video

Feb 4, 2013 @ 4:29 pm

Jack Davenport and Anjelica Huston don’t just play friends on NBC’s Smash, they’re real friends in real life. That’s why Huston called upon her pal to star in Haven’t We Met Before, the new short film she directed for Donna Karan’s Evolution hosiery collection, and together they debuted the result at Donna Karan‘s Urban Zen store in the West Village over the weekend. “If she says jump, I’ll say how high?” Davenport told InStyle.com of how he got involved with the film, which he had agreed to after Huston asked him on the set of Smash. “It’s always nice to work with someone you work with in one capacity, and see them working in another one. It was as lovely as I expected it to be.” For the film, which you can watch above, Huston focused on the sensuality of the legs—it is for hosiery, after all!—casting Felicity Jones as the love interest to Davenport. “She’s so easy, beautiful, easy, the perfect girl,” Huston added. As for her Smash buddy Jack? “He’s a particularly handsome one and talented one, so it seemed like looking a gift horse in the mouth, as it were,” she said. “Not that I would ever refer to him as a horse,” she joked.

What Body Part Makes Khloe Kardashian Feel Sexiest? She Tells InStyle

Feb 4, 2013 @ 4:02 pm

Sexy waves have become the trademark style of the Kardashian sisters, and it’s the ultimate go-to for Khloe. Why? ”I think I feel sexiest when my hair is down,”  the star told InStyle.com at the U by Kotex Generation Know campaign launch, which works to empower women by debunking health myths. “It’s like my security blanket, I don’t know why! I rarely wear my hair up. I have this nervous habit where I touch my hair without realizing it—my mom will call me after I do a talk show and will be like ‘Stop playing with your hair!‘” And although her hairstylist Jenn Atkin is the mastermind behind those bouncy curls, Khloe loves DIY-ing a sleek blowout. “I’m really good at doing my own makeup, but when it comes to doing my own hair, I just blow it out straight,” she added. “I have naturally curly hair so I can wear it that way, but you always want what you don’t have, so I straighten it.” We hear that!

Girls Season 2, Episode 4: What They Wore (and Why!)

Feb 4, 2013 @ 3:06 pm

For those Girls fans who were tuned into Beyonce Bowl last night, fret not! HBO already posted the fourth episode, “It’s a Shame About Ray,” online (watch it here) so you don’t have to wait to see your favorite Brooklyn-based ladies doing their worst. This week, there was a lot of relationship drama for Allison Williams’ Marnie and Jemima Kirke’s Jessa, and we spoke to costume designer Jenn Rogien to learn all about what they were wearing when it went down. “We didn’t want the wardrobe to be the focus this week, we just wanted to underscore what was happening,” Rogien explained. “There was a lot happening emotionally and story-wise, so we wanted to take a step back and support that.” Indeed! Click through the gallery to see our favorite looks from this week. And check back after next week’s episode for more from Jenn!
