Scandal Tonight: Olivia Pope Blows Her Cover in Escada

Jan 31, 2013 @ 1:54 pm

The jig is up! Well, sort of. Nothing is every that clear-cut on Scandal. The crack team of crisis managers at Pope & Associates is finally discovering the truth about Fitz’s rigged election campaign and realizing that their fearless leader, Olivia Pope (Kerry Washington) has some serious skeletons in her closet (alongside her covetable wardrobe). On tonight’s episode, you’ll see Pope in a creamy Escada jacket, which has some significance, costume designer Lyn Paolo told us. “As things become more complicated and our insight into our characters evolve, we decided to play with dark and light in the costume, using a typical Olivia Pope white/light gray jacket but coupling it with a darker pair of pants and dark toned shoes and purse,” Paolo told InStyle.com. “As the intrigue continues we will continue to use color in the evolution of our characters.” How intriguing! Tune in tonight at 10 p.m. EST on ABC to see what happens when the truth is revealed about Olivia’s involvement in the election.

The nineties are making a serious resurgence these days—members of generation Y can rejoice at the return of brands like Herbal Essences, Jane Cosmetics, and, now, DKNY. The brand is reissuing 15 of its archival runway styles from the 1991-1994 era through Opening Ceremony, including logo hoodies, NYC-skyline tees, maxi dresses, and the ultimate 90s look: the bodysuit. “DKNY was a pioneer of streetwear fashion in the 90s,” Opening Ceremony co-founder Carol Lim said in a statement. “We have been longtime fans of the brand and were very excited to bring back select, quintessential styles that feel fresh even today.” The collection, which hits shelves and openingceremony.us on February 1, ranges between $145 and $665.

Michael Kors is ready to fight hunger! The designer just announced that he’s teaming up with the United Nations World Food Programme on a series of campaigns, events, and special products to help stop the international food crisis. First order of business: launching two unisex watches this March—one in rose gold, pictured here—as part of the “Watch Hunger Stop” campaign. “It’s a gift to be able to use your success to help others,” Kors said in an exclusive statement to InStyle.com. “This partnership with the World Food Programme means our company and our customers can help make sure that people don’t go hungry.” The watches will come in two sizes—the smaller retailing for $295 and the larger, $325—and each watch sold will be able to feed 100 children through the Programme. Kors is also encouraging us to donate through texting—watch this PSA with Seth Meyers and Olivia Munn to learn all about it.
