The Recording Academy to Launch Grammy Label Clothing Line: Available February 6

Jan 29, 2013 @ 6:06 pm

Music and fashion often interplay, and no one knows that better than The Recording Academy, the organization behind the annual Grammy Awards. Just in time for this year’s February 10th show, the Academy will launch Grammy Label, a new clothing line that raises money to donate instruments to the Grammy Camp. ”Our vision was to develop a collection that was in line with the creative process of making music,” creative director Caroline Rothwell said in a statement. “This is not a promotional line. This is a style that is truly inspired by musicians.“ The line feature cotton, hand-dyed tees, and tanks for men and women ranging from $50 to $120. You’ll be able to pick up the pieces at specialty stores like Fred Segal and on grammylabelcollection.com starting February 6, just four days before the 55th Annual Grammy Awards are set to air at 8/7c on CBS.

Who makes the fairest shoes of them all? It’s Nicholas Kirkwood, who received the coveted British Fashion Council Designer Fashion Fund Award in London today. Central Saint Martins-trained Kirkwood took home the top prize—$315,860 as well as 18 months of bespoke mentoring aimed at helping him reach his business goals—beating out a list of talented Brits, including Peter Pilotto, Mary Katrantzou, Roksanda Ilincic, and Emilia Wickstead. “Some of my clients can literally wear heels all day,” Kirkwood told InStyle.com at the opening of his Manhattan store. “Some girls are so used to wearing heels it’s almost more painful to wear flats!” And with pro fans like Glee’s Lea Michele and Sarah Jessica Parker, he’s been a winner in our books for some time now. Congratulations!

Found It! Rita Ora’s Gray Nail Polish

Jan 29, 2013 @ 5:31 pm

Forget Fifty Shades of Grey—the pale slate lacquer Rita Ora wore is one gray tone you don’t have to hide! We love spotting fun nail art on the up-and-coming singer’s Instagram, and her latest crystallized mani inspired us so much, we went on the hunt for the exact nail polish she used. Ora’s manicurist Rebecca Wilson layered on an opaque ash base using Ciate’s Cream Soda before adding rhinestones and striped details. The color is available in Ciate’s Velvet Manicure kit, which allows you to impart a matte, flocked effect onto your digits. Experiment with a blinged-out design like Ora’s, or add a crushed velvet accent nail. Pick up the set for $19 or the single polish for $15 at sephora.com.

Rihanna Previews Her River Island Collection: See The Video

Jan 29, 2013 @ 2:59 pm

Rihanna is giving fashion and music lovers a sneak peek at her collection for U.K. brand River Island in a video she released this week (watch it above!). In it, she explains the inspiration behind her pieces—street style—which will debut during London Fashion Week. “British High Street has the most fashionable kids and people in all of the U.K.,” the singer says in the clip, which also shows the singer hard at work in the design studio. “They just have so much fashion, and I feel like the high-end designers are inspired by these kids. So I figured, why not go to the source if you want to be ahead of the trends?” While Rihanna is no stranger herself to the runway, this will be her first time showing her own designs. We look forward to her big debut on February 16th!

Inside InStyle: Drew Barrymore’s New Mom Beauty Routine!

Jan 29, 2013 @ 2:05 pm

We caught up with new mom Drew Barrymore for our February issue, who told us while she is busier than ever with 5-month-old Olive, she can still spare a little time for beauty. “It’s normally zero to 60 seconds, and that means doing my makeup in about 60 seconds,” the star revealed. “Just a little concealer, a little color on the eyes, and I double my lipstick as blush!” Crafty! The actress, who recently launched her own cosmetics line, Flower, also shared a tidbit of beauty wisdom that she’ll pass along to her daughter one day: “The happier she is in life, the more beautiful she’s going to be on the outside.” So true! Check out Barrymore’s Flower beauty collection at walmart.com.
