New Kids on the Block Announce Tour With 98 Degrees, Boyz II Men

Jan 22, 2013 @ 5:17 pm

Justin Timberlake isn’t the only one-time boy-bander having a comeback this year! Joey, Donnie, Jonathan, Jordan, and Danny—AKA the New Kids on the Block—announced on The View today that they will tour this summer! And that’s not all—they will be hitting the road with 90s heartthrobs 98 Degrees (we’re looking at you, Nick Lachey), and R&B crooners Boyz II Men. The 25-stop summer tour (called “The Package”) is slated to kick off May 31, with tickets going on sale as soon as February 2. If you can’t wait that long, you’re in luck: the group also shared that they will release a new album, 10, April 2, and the first single off the record, “Remix (I Like The),” can be expected  on iTunes as soon as January 28, though it’s debuting this Friday, January 25 on Ryan Seacrest’s radio show. That’s three days from now. Long live the ’80s!

Busy Philipps’s Mod Manicure: Here’s How To Get the Look!

Jan 22, 2013 @ 5:03 pm

Busy Philipps knows a thing or two about creative manicures—the mother-to-be has been spotted in rainbow and floral designs, and frequents Mars the Salon in Los Angeles for all her nail art needs. Philipps’s recent mod pattern inspired us, so we asked the salon’s owner, Hiroko Fujikawa, for tips on nailing the look at home! “I recommend using gel rather than polish. I use Calgel at the salon, but I also like Orly’s Gel Nail Polish ($10 each; orlybeauty.com),” she said. Gel colors extend the life of your manicure, and the quick dry time (five minutes or less) makes unexpected smudges a thing of the past. Patterns like Philipps’s are easier if broken down into sections, so work from the bottom of the nail going upward.Start by applying the blue shade diagonally to the bottom of the nail, then apply a coral pink in a triangular shape next to the blue,” said Fujikawa. “Next, apply the yellow gel to half of your nail tip and fill in the other half with red.” Finally, use thin gold tape to create borders around each color. We like Art Club’s Metallic Threads ($4; sallybeauty.com).

Exclusive! Behind the Scenes at Kate Hudson’s Almay Shoot

Jan 22, 2013 @ 2:37 pm

Kate Hudson is baring it all in her latest Almay campaign! We got a sneak peek at Hudson’s shoot for the brand’s Bold Nudes Intense i-Color Palette, where she contrasted her glamorous role as Cassandra on Glee with a more natural look. “I think we [wanted] Cassandra to be heavy in terms of her makeup,” Hudson told us at the palette’s launch. “We did a little more than normal because she’s a little bit harder, and we wanted to make sure that you can really see the makeup.” And the trio of shadows can accommodate her character’s flair for dramatic makeup, too. The tawny neutrals work for smoky and minimalist looks alike, and come in shades to flatter every eye color. Shop the palette for $8 at target.com, and check out the gallery to take an exclusive look on set!

Although The Great Gatsby doesn’t hit theaters until May 10, we’re already getting excited for all of the fabulous 1920s fashion courtesy of Miuccia Prada! The designer collaborated with director Baz Luhrmann to create forty looks for the film, each adapted from past Prada and Miu Miu collections. In anticipation for the film’s release, Prada revealed the design of four of the dresses, and from the looks of the sketches the designer is going for full-on glamour—perfect for Carey Mulligan‘s portrayal of one of literature’s most supremely pampered characters, Daisy Buchanan. From sequins to silk to fur, we can’t wait to see all of the other roaring 20s-inspired looks!
