My favorite holiday dessert has got to be peppermint bark. Not only is it super festive, and easy to make, it’s not too heavy and filling, so no matter how much you indulged at dinner, there is always room for dessert. =]

My favorite holiday dessert would have to be Coconut Cream Pie! It may seem like something that people would enjoy in Hawaii over Christmas but I live in freezing cold Ohio and we still enjoy this tropical- like treat!

-Sarah on December 21st, 2012

My favorite holiday dessert is generally simply cake…any. But my fiance’s Aunt makes something called a Christmas Cake. I’ve been eating it for the past 5 years and it is DELICIOUS!!! When I told my finance I was going to ask his Aunt for the recipe, he discouraged me. He said its’ been in the family for many years and he knew his Aunt Pat was not going to cough up the secret. She made for Thanksgiving & I decided to work up the nerve and ask. I called with a build up speech since I was so nervous. Aunt Pat was very nice and said, “No problem. I’m getting old and I’m glad someone is taking interest.” Simple as ABC…but no one ever dared to ask. So now I have it!! :-)

My ultimate dessert is 7 layer magic bars. The beauty in making these delightful goodies are that the recipe can be altered. I originally made the recipe from the back of a can of condensed milk. Then, took it up a few notches and changed a few thing for seasonal bliss. I substitute crushed gingerbread cookies instead of graham crackers for the crust and used peppermint bark instead of chocolate chips. After cooling, cut and place in festive cupcake papers. YUMMO!

-Stephanie on December 21st, 2012

When I think of holiday desserts, I get a headache. Why? There are so many to choose from, but if I had to pick one, it must be cupcake; it’s different from your regular cake because it’s fun embodied in bite-size form. There are so many flavors to choose from and the texture just feels better for some unknown reason in comparison to the cake. While I can’t quite fathom what makes a cupcake so much more delectable, there really is no other dessert out there that’s as fitting for the holidays as the cupcake.

*Because French makes things sound cooler: When I went to Belgium for the last 6 months, I ate speculoos, a gingerbread-like cookie that is very common in December, especially for the feast of St. Nick on December 6. My mom found speculoos in California, and gave me the cookies last night! Merry Christmas! I can eat my new favorite Belgian dessert in the US! (thinking of memories of all my friends in Belgium who shared recipes and stories over glasses of milk and plates of speculoos)

**And I am still practicing on my french, by the way…

I give away this treat as a hostess gift. (But no way do I reveal my secret recipe even though it can be found on the back of a name brand evaporated milk can!) I cut the cubes tiny and put them in decorative paper cups which make them taste even better! Wanna go nuts? Add nuts! (Walnuts work best.) Make sure you lick your fingers after eating each piece!

Hands down my Grandma’s “Bento” Icebox. The day before xmas the grand kids get together, grandma makes a delicious vanilla bean custard and a simple (yet delicious)pound cake. Just like a factory and assembly line the grand kids cut the pound cake and build the “bento” icebox alternating pound cake and custard. Everyone gets involved. It goes to the fridge and we eat it on xmas day. It’s a family effort and brings so much good memories.

-Rod on December 21st, 2012

Apple pie is my favorite! (with extra cinnamon)

-Josephine on December 21st, 2012

My favorite holiday dessert is egg tart. I love eggs and especially the taste of sweet sugary egg tarts. My mom and I usually make them from scratch with many flaky and crispy layers. Instead of using lard or white sugar, we use vegetable oil and brown sugar which makes them more special and look more different than the usual egg tarts. Every year the tarts always remind me of the good memories I’ve had as a child. I also remember the homemade banana bread, the chocolate chip cookies, and chocolate cupcakes.

-icyseal on December 21st, 2012

She was the matriarch of our family, truly the glue that bonded us all together. She passed away suddenly 1/30/2006. Each Christmas Mom’s cheesecake keeps her memory alive.

my favorite holiday dessert is homemade sugar cookies that we all decorate with our kids with homemade icing and sprinkles

My favorite holiday dessert is a big plate of a variety of cookies, frosted, with nuts, irregular, perfectly formed and in every flavor! cookie cookies cookies.

-26.2nana on December 22nd, 2012

Pumpkin pie, for sure!

-Karen on December 22nd, 2012

a very chocolatey yule log (with whip cream instead of frosting) and pretty much any pie except mince meat!

Has anyone tried the new Baked Alaska at Trader Joe’s…that is my new favorite holiday dessert – I hope they make it every year! For those of you that aren’t lucky enough to have TJ’s near you, it’s peppermint ice cream on a graham cracker crust (although I wish it was an oreo crust) and yummy meringue topping. I can eat the whole box myself.

Sprinkles cupcakes are my favorite dessert year round (caramel apple, banana dark chocolate, mocha, eggnog), but for the holidays it would be the made from scratch, desserts my family and I make together each year. My mom has made homemade Gingerbread (from scratch) every year since I can remember. Some years we made houses and others we made men, women, children, and Santa Claus’. My grandmother would always make homemade divinity (so good!) and hard candy when I was younger. The best bit of it, for me, is the time we share and the memories that are created…AND I am the Official taste tester :)

-Jade on December 22nd, 2012

I love all cakes with frosting, and cupcakes are the perfect size. I also like S’mores, but I haven’t not been able to make it to Sprinkles when that flavor is available since I have to fly to CA or NY from Seattle for my Sprinkles cupcakes!

reindeer cupcakes are super cute!

Quite difficult to choose only one holiday dessert as a favorite… But OK!! I guess mine will be the honey-dipped spice cookies (called ‘melomakarona’ in Greek) my lovely yaya (Greek for grandmother) makes mostly because they are made by her and she is the sweetest person in the world :)

Banana cream pie. Yum!

For as long as I can remember, my mom has made Christmas cookies to give out to friends and family. Now that my siblings and I are all grown up, we are the ones who make them while she relaxes! One of my favorite and delicious holiday traditions is making those cookies, especially since they’re all family recipes! Not only do they taste delicious, but there are so many memories baked right into them. My favorite are the butter cookies shaped like Christmas trees!

-Kelly S on December 22nd, 2012

Absolutely Red Velvet Cupcakes!

-Jenn on December 22nd, 2012

Baklava! One pistachio and one spicy pecan. We can barely wait for it to cool down to eat it, even though it is supposed to rest overnight. Yum!

-Sierra Lincoln on December 22nd, 2012

My favorite holiday dessert is my nana’s christmas candy. Its made with chocolate/butterscotch meltrd together on top of cornflakes mixed with a sweet coating. YUM!

-Ashley on December 22nd, 2012

My favorite holiday dessert has to be pumpkin pie or anything pumpkin really. There is something about that pumpkin smell filling the house that is soooo nostalgic to me. Plus the taste of pumpkin pie never gets old.

-Stephanie on December 22nd, 2012

Ice Cream Cake. My birthday on 12/24. We always celebrate it with cake. Recently we been getting ice cream cake. I know….it’s freezing to have ice cream during the winter time. But to my 2 year old niece, it’s not a birthday without an ice cream cake. Since Ice cream cake brings a smile to her face, then it’s worth it :D

-Jenny on December 22nd, 2012

My favorite holiday dessert is pecan pie; it’s special to me because my mom made her own recipe for it, I hope to one day pass on to my (future) kids. Side note: pecans are great, they can be added to many other sweets, such as chocolate chip cookies, brownies, ice cream, even the icing on some cakes. Pecans are also the main attraction in a TX (southern) sweet, simply known as pecan candy. Yum!

-Rebekah on December 22nd, 2012

Anything with peppermint or pumpkin!

-Jean on December 22nd, 2012

My favorite Christmas dessert would have to be spritz cookies. I make them with my aunt every year and we use the cookie press to shape them into trees. When they’re all done, I fill them with fudge- my favorote part!

-Laura on December 22nd, 2012

homemade madelines by my french grandma and a extra large sized tub of hagen daaz vanilla and chocolate covered almond ice cream. ~~ yums i gain weight just imagining this

A warm, ooie-gooie chocolate cake with melted oozing warm chocolate and a scoop of vanilla ice cream covered in hot fudge, sprinkled with toasted, shredded almonds. Uuuummmmm……I can’t wait!

-Angelika on December 23rd, 2012

Traditional English Christmas trifle is my absolute favorite dessert to eat at Christmastime. And nobody makes it better than my Nana. She’s 90 and first generation in her family here from the UK.

-Gabe on December 23rd, 2012

i love the old fashioned sugar cookies we make every year. My mother used to make them and I now I am teaching my daughters to make them.

-Marie Taylor on December 23rd, 2012

My absolute favorite holiday dessert is lady locks. Every year my mother in law makes these flaky creamed filled treats for the whole family. It is a delicious treat that I look forward to all year long.

-Jackie on December 23rd, 2012

My favorite dessert is my mom’s Texan pecan pie. She uses Vanilla from Mexico and it’s AMAZING!

-Priscilla on December 23rd, 2012

Appalachian Apple Stack Cake! My grandmother peels and dries the apples in the sun in Tennessee and mails them to me in Los Angeles. Then, I make these layers that are a cross between a sugar cookie and shortbread, and put the rehydrated apple mixture between all SIX layers. And the best part is it gets better every day, because the apples moisten it! Makes me feel like I’m back in the South.

-Kelly Goodner on December 23rd, 2012

My favorite holiday dessert is Mince Pies! Moving to California from England in 2010 they are not easy to find so I bake them myself each year. Warm them slightly and serve with brandy butter or whipped cream for the perfect dessert.

One of the best things during the holidays is baking, especially baking with friends and family. One of my favorite holiday desserts to bake and eat are gingerbread cookies. I always bake those with my kids. It’s so much fun. Sprinkles has a cupcake called Ginger Lemon, which I happen to LOVE. It is really delicious! And I am not saying this in order to win. I just really love that cupcake. But I guess since the Ginger Lemon cupcake is not really consider a holiday dessert, I am choosing the gingerbread cookies as my favorite holiday dessert. So I guess my answer (short one) would be: Gingerbread cookies are my favorite holiday dessert.

-Adam on December 23rd, 2012

There once was a girl with curly hair
And a sweet tooth mega-sized.
She’d eat the cookies, cakes, and tarts
But cupcakes, she most prized.
Because she had a special friend
Who made it a tradition
To go down to the Sprinkles shop.
The cupcakes were their mission!
Together they would share two cakes:
Vanilla and banana.
The icing on their laughing faces,
They wished for more from Santa.
And still today with my special friend
Those perfect cupcakes, we crave.
Those cupcakes at the Holidays
Remind us of our sugary escapades.

A haiku and ode to the best holiday dessert!

William Sonoma
Peppermint Bark is frikkin
worth the calories!

I sometimes run into the William Sonoma in the mall just to sneak samples. In December, the samples are always out! If it’s sample sized, it doesn’t count, right? Plus the kids love it. And it goes on sale during the holiday season. A win-win, obviously! Peppermint bark cookies, cheesecake, cupcakes… my favorite holiday dessert has you all owned!
