The sexy star earned a cult-like following more than 10 years ago when he portrayed Homer Hickam in October Sky and the angsty titular character in Donnie Darko, and his screen career kept building since. For his most recent movie role, he played a South Central Los Angeles police officer in End of Watch, a role that required him to train for five months with real-life officers. “It was a long, amazing process and the police officers that we met along the way are some of my closest friends to this day, and hopefully forever,” the actor told InStyle.com at the Toronto International Film Festival. Happy birthday, Jake!
