The most unusual cupcake flavor I’ve tried was an Elvis inspired cupcake that had peanut butter, bananas & chocolate with a huge marshmallow on top. And yes, it was delicious!

I would say lavender for me. This is coming from a chick that sticks with the ol’ ye faithful ‘butter’ flavor as my favorite!

-Amy on December 7th, 2012

I tried bacon cheeseburger flavored cupcakes. Not my favorite.

-KAREN COGBURN on December 7th, 2012

The craziest cupcake I’ve had is a chocolate filled sweet potato cupcake!

-Meghan on December 7th, 2012

I would say the most unusual flavor I have had the honor of tasting was a Lime Margarita cupcake. I had the opportunity to try this during the summer time at Taste of Denver. It was a margarita drink mix infused yellow cake with a lime butter cream frosting. It perfectly hit the spot right down to the “salted” sugar rim top! It was adorn with no other than a candied lime slice! I do love my margaritas and this cupcake did the drink justice.

-Brittany on December 7th, 2012

A fig and goat cheese cupcake. It was pretty good. Love cupcakes-they are so versitile, you can do anything with them!

-Jennifer on December 7th, 2012

I made bite sized dark chocolate cupcakes with salted caramel frosting and bacon crumbles for a party. Everyone thought I was crazy…but guess which platter was empty first!

-Heidi on December 7th, 2012

I have a cupcake baker in my family, so I’ve had lots of crazy combos! Maple and bacon was probably the craziest! I would LOOOVE to be able to try one from Georgetown!

-Meaghan on December 7th, 2012

Cherry coke cupcake! I still dream about it…

I would have to say the Bacon Cupcake was the most unusual nothing compares to Georgetown Cupcakes they are amazing.. been wanting to try the Christmas ones..

-Courtney on December 7th, 2012

I don’t know how unusual this is, but I had a pineapple upside-down cupcake that was phenomenally delicious!

-Nancy Zellers on December 7th, 2012

The limited edition “Sammy” at Kickass Cupcakes. It is has a beer ganache center and Sam Adams cream stout icing. Maybe Georgetown Cupcakes could do a beer cupcake in their new Boston location using Harpoon Beer (just down the street).

-allroadsleadtoclothes on December 7th, 2012

I once had an avocado and cream cheese cupcake! Better than expected..

-Caroline on December 7th, 2012

I had a peanut butter and jelly flavored cupcake. It was better than I expected but not nearly as delicious as a georgetown cupcake!

-Abby on December 7th, 2012

I’ve never really had anything out of the ordinary, but carrot is my favorite!

-Jennifer Doane on December 7th, 2012

I had a pumpkin cardamom cupcake at Cups in La Jolla, CA. It was delicious. Definitely one of the most unique cupcakes I’ve tasted to date.

-Aimee M on December 7th, 2012

Double Chocolate Bacon..I was a dark chocolate cupcake with pieces of Bacon in side. The frosting was a white choloclate with bacon pieces on top. It was very good.

Rootbeer Float Cupcakes were definitely a trip, but, surprisingly good!

-Meredith on December 7th, 2012

Chocolate with Candied bacon… yeah it wasn’t that great

-Megan M on December 7th, 2012

I actually made & tried a pizza flavored cupcake!! The cake part tasted like tomato sauce & the frosting was cheesy – in all honesty the idea was better than the taste.

-HG on December 7th, 2012

The most unusual cupcake I ever had was a Guinness Cupcake with a maple bacon frosting, was delicious. Thought I wouldn’t like it but I loved it

-kellie hayden-mills on December 7th, 2012

A homemade chocolate espresso cupcake, yum!

-Olivia on December 7th, 2012

I haven’t tasted anything unusual. I usually stick to the basic vanilla and Chocolate. I live in a very small town and rarely get to the big city where there are cupcake shops. So if I can’t get the cake mix at the store and make it myself….I buy the premade fromm Walmart which in my mind aren’t really cupcakes at all.

-Charlotte Hecht on December 7th, 2012

pineapple and bacon

-s m le on December 7th, 2012

The most unusual cupcake I have had was a basil infused chocolate cupcake with blackberry buttercream icing. It was unique!

-shannon on December 7th, 2012

The craziest cupcake I’ve had is a bacon cupcake. It was actually pretty good. But nothing beats the delicious cupcakes from Georgetown Cupcakes. I had them when I visited DC last year and have been waning more ever since!

-Nicole B on December 7th, 2012

I had a rum and coke cupcake with rum buttercream and rum balls on top!

-Julie Schy on December 7th, 2012

The most unusual cupcake I’ve tried was actually one I came up with myself for a friend’s bridal shower. It was a white-wine cupcake, with a whipped goat cheese frosting and fresh raspberries. It was inspired by her wedding registry – LOTS of wine and cheese accessories.

-jen hunt on December 7th, 2012

-melissa r on December 7th, 2012

Bacon White Truffle! It was on our trip to Chicago, my favorite foodie city! The weirder the better is usually my motto. Or maybe my motto is “Put white truffle on anything and I will eat it.”I haven’t decided.

-Kayte CookWatts on December 7th, 2012

The most interesting cupcake I’ve ever tried was a Chocolate Pumpkin cupcake. I had no idea to what to expect with those two flavors, but it was surprisingly delicious! And with the pumpkin ingredient also doubling as an oil and butter substitute… I felt much less guilty when I went for a second cupcake!

-Ariana on December 7th, 2012

Bacon cupcake

-Chelsea on December 7th, 2012

Avocado Chocolate cupcakes – that was right when I found out I had an avocado allergy.

-Amber on December 7th, 2012

Maple Bacon cupcake. It has a good mix of sweet and salty. Another that is not that unusual is the salted caramel. I’ve also made peacan pie, sweet potato, and mint cupcakes. All were awesome!!

-Chrissy on December 7th, 2012

I had a Caramel Apple Bacon cupcake: apple cake style cupcake with caramel cream cheese frosting and little bits of bacon sprinkled on top. It was a perfect balance of salty and sweet.

-Stephanie H. on December 7th, 2012

a spicy chocolate cupcake -

-Lou on December 7th, 2012

A cupcake filled with sweet bean paste in the center. It was pretty good. Had it during my travels over seas.

-Heather Rush on December 7th, 2012

I WOULD HAVE TO SAY THE EGGNOG CUPCAKES ARE DIFFERENT TOO ME. I LOVE GEORGETOWN CUPCAKES. SOOOO YUMMY!

-HONESTIE K. on December 7th, 2012

Lavendar lemonade with a vanilla honey buttercream

-Rachel S on December 7th, 2012

The most unusual cupcake I have tried was a Lemon Olive Oil cupcake. There were hints of olive oil in both the cupcake and in the frosting. The olive oil gave the cupcake moisture, so it was super moist. The frosting was extra light and fluffy. Overall, the olive oil gave the cupcake a slightly salty finish—sweet and salty, best combination ever!

-Kathryn Dombrowski on December 7th, 2012

Most unusual cupcake I ever tried was a Zucchini Ginger cupcake. Would be interesting to see Georgetown Cupcake try something with zucchini for a more “savory” cupcake option!

-Stephanie on December 7th, 2012

Peppermint and Oreos are two distinct opposites
But put them together and it gets exquisite
A most unusual, yet satisfying flavor
It left me drooling and yearning for another!

-Giddy Tigress on December 7th, 2012

Without a doubt a couple different bacon cupcakes. Not for me!! Caramel and chocolate are more my thing.

-Tara Lee D on December 7th, 2012

I had a Moscato Cupcake one time and it was so unique. Not necessarily sweet but very delicious and rich.

-Bisi on December 7th, 2012

Toss up between blueberry maple (like blueberry pancakes, in cupcake form) and an “Elvis” peanut butter and banana with bacon.

-Donna on December 7th, 2012

Breakfast cupcake- blueberry pancake cupcake, maple butter cream, topped with chopped candied bacon.

-Tiffany on December 7th, 2012

The most unusual cupcake I ever tried was one of my own creation! It was a Sam Adams Lager Beer Based cupcake with hints of freshly zested orange and ginger. The cake came out delicious! The beer was unfortunately a very subtle flavor and the frosting…Let’s just say the frosting needs to be revisited. The zest did not quite mix with the orange juice butter cream I imagined. But then again, I started with orange juice butter cream frosting, so It’s not fair to blame it on the zest!

-Catie on December 7th, 2012

I would have to say that the most unusual cupcake flavor I have tried is Lavendar Earl Gray Tea, also from Georgetown Cupcake. Wait…Lavendar? I said, for a cupcake flavor? How is that possible? It’s a flower and a scent so how would it taste as a cupcake flavor. Especially when you add earl gray tea since that’s a liquid so again, how?? I don’t have the answer but the cupcake was delicious!! Not at all floral or tea-ish, they just made it work! Thanks for this giveaway

-Stacey Staack on December 7th, 2012

The most unusual cupcake i’ve ever tried was a roasted peper cupcake!

-Kaitlyn on December 7th, 2012

The most unusual flavor that I tried was a chocolate bacon cupcake with vanilla bacon buttercream and candied bacon on top. It’s definitely not my favorite, by far. I’ll stick with my plain chocolate cupcakes with peanut butter buttercream!

-Juli W on December 7th, 2012

Turkey meatloaf cupcake . . . very interesting!

-Katie Conant on December 7th, 2012

Wine and cupcakes? What’s not to love! I had a red wine chocolate cupcake, swirled with goat cheese and cream cheese cheesecake, topped with a mascarpone whipped cream frosting. Unique, decadent, delish! I made them.  You can too if you’re interested in an unusual, special treat! http://thefetchingfoodie.com/2012/07/21/red-wine-chocolate-cake/ Make as a cake or cupcakes!

-thefetchingfoodie on December 7th, 2012

The most unusual and best cupcake is the Hisbiscus flavor cupcake. Yum!

-Tiffiny L on December 7th, 2012

A Bubblegum cupcake, strange but yummy.

-Rhonda P on December 7th, 2012

Imagine walking into work and on the faculty room table is a beautifully displayed cupcake tree filled with cupcakes in all flavors. Now imagine my chagrin as I bit into what I thought was a chocolate coconut cupcake to find the surprise of … Styrofoam under the frosting…it was April 1st. The frosting was tasty….ack!

-Kristin on December 7th, 2012

I haven’t tried all that many unusual ones. I think the strangest would be a chocolate stout cupcake, and that’s not all that strange!

-Kelly on December 7th, 2012

The most memorable cupcake I’ve enjoyed was the Cake Batter cupcake at Molly’s in NYC. I love Cake Batter. It poses a real problem when I go to make cupcakes myself, as I tend to eat far too much of the batter (and suffer the tummy ache that inevitably follows). Needless to say, when I discovered there existed a cupcake with a cake batter center I was SOLD. After a few glasses of wine, my friend and I sidled over to Molly’s, stared into the cupcake-laden shelves and selected a sweet treat to round out the evening. I chose well. The girl behind the counter handed over a blue-capped vanilla cupcake with a beautiful surprise in the center. Once in possession of my precious, I made a bee line straight over to their “sprinkle station” where I proceeded to douse the entire mini-cake in a rainbow cascade of dinosaur sprinkles. I then hopped onto one of their swing seats and, like a giddy toddler, giggled my sticky-fingered way through the outer cake layer and into the divine raw center of the ever-coveted batter. Cake Batter may not be an earthshatteringly unusual flavor, but my experience with the palm sized dessert was absolutely out of the ordinary.

-erinrussell on December 7th, 2012

Hummingbird Cupcakes are the best, with the flavor of bananas and cream chesse frosting. A MUST HAVE CUPCAKE…..

-Za'Quita on December 7th, 2012

Umm I don’t think I’ve ever had anything out of the ordinary. I was skeptical of lemon but now I love it!

-Laurie O on December 7th, 2012

The most unusual cupcake I’ve ate was banana split cupacake by DC Cupcakes. The look was very interesting and too much until I took the first bite…. After the first bite, wow!!! Inside there was the surprise filling and oh boy, I just had to eat slowly and small just to satisfy my taste buds!!!

-Leslie on December 7th, 2012

Jalapeno bacon was the most weirdest, but it’s was completely delicious.

-ccboobooy on December 7th, 2012

This last October I made Pumpkin Chocolate Chip with Pumpkin Cream Cheese frosting, garnished with a few mini chocolate chips, and they were SOOOOO GOOD! I have also had pineapple with cream cheese frosting cupcakes. I love anything with cream cheese frosting!!

I had a chipolte chocolate flavor that was surprisingly very scrumptious!

-Geri on December 7th, 2012

matzah cupcakes for passover

-thepolishaddict on December 7th, 2012

My mother makes a taro cupcake with coconut milk frosting and shredded toasted coconut. It’s inspired by a Vietnemese dessert called Chè khoai môn. Her version is a little less sweet than most store bought cupcakes, but the subtle flavors are unusual and delicious!

-Emily on December 7th, 2012

I guess I am pretty boring….The most unusual cupcake I’ve ever had is just an orange cremesicle cupcake. It was very yummy and would love to have it again. Maybe I need to try some of these Georgetown Cupcakes and branch out a little!!

-Donna Cochrane on December 7th, 2012

My niece made cupcakes that had tiny pumpkin pies inside. They had a maple flavored cream cheese frosting. They were AMAZING!

-Lisa on December 7th, 2012

I tried a potato cupcake once! Very odd!

-Rebecca on December 7th, 2012

The most unusual but delicious cupcake I have tasted was a Chocolate Cherry Coke Cupcake. It had coke within the batter and cherries. Unusual but delicious.

-Dannette Martinez on December 7th, 2012

The most unusual cupcake flavor I have had was a Masala chai cupcake. There was a flag of India on the top of the cupcake. It had a unique taste but was memorable!

-Maneesh on December 7th, 2012

I’ve never met a cupcake I didn’t like. They all taste good to me! :)

-pspsablogger on December 7th, 2012

I would say that the most unique was a gingerbread with white chocolate chunks. It was spectacular.

-Tiffany on December 7th, 2012

a French Toast cupcake—delicious!

-kirsten fournier on December 7th, 2012

The wonderful Georgetown Cupcakes English Christmas holiday cupcake is my most unique to date. Its fruit and spice combination is unlike anything else on the menu and it evokes wonderful childhood holiday memories.

-Tom G on December 7th, 2012

I never thought that I would enjoy bacon cupcakes, but they have been my favorite, thus far. it was a chocolate cupcake filled with a buttercream and freshly chopped bacon center, topped with the same frosting and a chocolate dipped bacon piece. Oh my YUMMMM! Thanks Cupcrazed Cupcakery in Rock Hill, SC.

-Peppermint Patty on December 7th, 2012

I haven’t tried anything crazy but I guess the most out there was a triple cookie dough cupcake with a cookie dough center, cookie dough cupcake and cookie dough frosting. A little too much cookie dough for me!

-Megan on December 7th, 2012

The most unique cupcake I have ever had (and made) was a chocolate fudge cupcake with pretzels, peanut butter and caramel inside, and yummy salted caramel cream cheese frosting with bits of pretzels and crushed peanuts on top and drizzled with more salted caramel. Oh man, my kiddos and I love this one!!

-Theresa C on December 7th, 2012

Thyme and lavender combination.

-hunt2005 on December 7th, 2012

-hunt2005 on December 7th, 2012

Probably an orange cardamom cupcake. Two flavors you’d never expect to find together in a cupcake, totally worked! Delicious!

-angelsgirl2002 on December 7th, 2012

To be perfectly honest, I’ve never met a Georgetown cupcake I didn’t like….their combination of ingredients, variety of flavors, and general fabulousness makes me grateful I don’t live closer. What?? I HAVE to pick a favorite?? Ok, ok. Chocolate ganache.

-Heidi on December 7th, 2012

I once had a Guinness Cupcake with Baileys Irish Creme frosting. It was to-die-for! I love that the cupcake craze is introducing so manu unique flavors!

-Allison on December 7th, 2012

I ate a vanilla cupcake with an octapus tentacle on it.

-elisa on December 7th, 2012

PS. I’m only happy I don’t live closer because I’d be having them for breakfast……

-Heidi on December 7th, 2012

Never had these cupcakes. Heard a lot about them, but never had the pleasure of eating one!
Love to win a batch.

-claire on December 7th, 2012

I tried a chocolate cupcake with diced apples in it and bacon crumbles on top. I love all three ingredients separately, but I was a little skeptical about the combination. They turned out to be absolutely delicious.

-Andrea on December 7th, 2012

Every year, our neighbors host a pre-Superbowl party, and meat is always the star. Because I’m more of a baker than a griller/smoker type, I’ve made a couple of interesting cupcakes. I personally like the maple bacon cupcakes (with candied bacon sprinkles) I made a couple of years back, but the most unusual was last year, when I made Buffalo Chicken cupcakes: cornmeal-honey cupcakes with buffalo chicken filling and a blue cheese-cream cheese frosting. Although I had to convince the first brave souls to try them, they were a big hit!

-Meg on December 7th, 2012

I recently went to a friend’s bachlorette party & I tried a gin & tonic cupcake with a lime as the garnish on top it was different but they were presented really cute & tasted yummy!

-Kesa on December 7th, 2012

My best friend really likes spaghetti & meatballs so she requested that as a flavor for her birthday cupcakes so to my surprise her mom had a bakery make them & they were actually good and they even made the frosting look like spahetti garnished with a chocolate malt ball on top to represent the meatball.

-Kira on December 7th, 2012

The most unusual cupcake flavor I have ever tried was eel. The eels were chopped up, added to the cupcake mix & then the frosting was made out of dried goat’s blood.

-Medusa on December 7th, 2012

The most unique cupcake I’ve ever had was a strawberry brie cupcake. It was definitely a unique use of brie cheese, and I liked that it wasn’t something ordinary. It was very unique considering it used a savory, non-dessert related ingredient. It was also very good!

-Justin on December 7th, 2012

Most unusual flavor – cherry coke cupcake! Actually was OK.

-Caroline Joss on December 7th, 2012

Most unusual was maple and bacon, but it was pretty yummy!

-Linda Nguyen on December 7th, 2012

The most unusual cupcake flavor I’ve ever tried is a Mac & Cheese cupcake. Even though one of my favorite dishes is mac & Cheese, I Would have to pass on the cupcake. It wasn’t horrible just not something I would want to try again.

-Kristina on December 7th, 2012

THe most unusual one I tried was a chocolate cake but it had mexican spices and cayanne pepper in it and in the frosting…lots of heat.

-Becca Z on December 7th, 2012

A Smores Cupcake!! It was pretty good.

-Jen Rodrigues on December 7th, 2012

the most unusual cupcake i have ever eaten was one that my husband made for his annual bacon day party. its basically a day of celebrating every thing bacon, so people get pretty creative with their dish. my husband made a very delicious bacon maple cupcake one year and it was outstanding!

-dorothy legrand on December 7th, 2012

I would have to say Margarita cupcake with Lime frosting and course salt. It was very refreshing. One that I was most surprised about, was DC Cupcakes – Gluten free chocolate with cream filling, I have NEVER had such a moist cupcake in my life and most gluten free baked goods are very dry.

-Sandi Campbell on December 7th, 2012

The most unusual cupcake flavor I tried was called “Lavender Earl Grey Teacake.” It was NOT a good combination.

-Tina Fringer on December 7th, 2012

The strangest, and one of the yummiest cupcakes I’ve had is maple bacon… sweet, salty, and smokey!

-Sofia on December 7th, 2012

The most unusual cupcake flavor I ever tried was actually the Chocolate Egg Nog cupcake from Georgetown Cupcake. I took one bite and immediately tasted the rich chocolate, but then a wave of spice hit my tongue. The moist cake and perfectly dolloped frosting, which were infused with nutmeg, provided an equal mix of sweet and savory and embodied the holidays. I would love to have the chance to eat another Chocolate Eggnog cupcake from my favorite bakery!

-bkkolota on December 7th, 2012

The most unusual cupcake I’ve tried consisted of fragrant lemon cake studded with wild blueberries topped with key lime-vanilla frosting flecked with zest.

-SP on December 7th, 2012

A banana cupcake with Avocado icing!!!!

-Katie on December 7th, 2012

A chocolate bacon cupcake that was quite satisfying!

-Lillian on December 7th, 2012

The most interesting cupcake I have ever had is maple bacon, which sounds like it is more popular then I expected!

-cwhit24 on December 8th, 2012

Maple Bacon, which seems to be more popular then I expected!

-cwhit24 on December 8th, 2012

The strangest cupcake flavor I ever had was a Bernie Bott’s flavored cupcake, buttered popcorn. Even though it was strange the baker was using the theme as an inspiration so there was a ton of buttercream icing and who can complain about that. Some of the other cupcakes on the menu that day were licorice, cotton candy, dirt and lemon.

-Schaffer on December 8th, 2012

Maple bacon – and never again :)

-adamtarkowski on December 8th, 2012

I’ve loved all the cupcakes I’ve eaten. The most unusual flavor I can think of is maple bacon. It was soooo good

-katie on December 8th, 2012

Ginger green tea

-Rachel on December 8th, 2012

Early Grey cupcake. Delicious!

-BHall on December 8th, 2012

The most unusual cupcake I’ve eaten was a “Chicago style pizza” cupcake! The cake was cheesy not sweet. The “frosting” tasted like marinara sauce and was sugary like buttercream. It was topped with a little piece of crust. I have to say”, the cake wasn’t bad but the frosting wasn’t a good combination of sweet and savory!

-laura on December 8th, 2012

The most unusual cupcake flavor I ever tried was Red Velvet Waffle and fried chicken with pecan maple syrup drizzled on top. Yummo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

-nilimo72 on December 8th, 2012

grapefruit cupcakes with chai icing! so weird but so good!

-kelli on December 8th, 2012

Green Tea Cupcake….It’s was surprisingly good! :)

-Sana Zuberi on December 8th, 2012

Hot chocolate cupcake. they are yummy too

-ginger dunn on December 8th, 2012

The most unusual cupcake flavor I’ve tried is a savory quinoa cupcake with sour cream and aji’ on top. It came in the form of a cupcake; in a cupcake wrapper with well-mounted “icing” and aji’ decorations. As someone who loves quinoa and appreciates its nutritional value, this was the best (and most unexpected) variety of cupcake I’ve ever tried.

-Rafaela Izurieta on December 8th, 2012

I have had a turkey meatloaf “cupcake,” a lasagna “cupcake,” and an honest-to-God tomato soup cupcake.

-KS on December 8th, 2012

I have to say, it has to be Cherry Coke cupcakes! A friend made it for her birthday and mixed with cocoa powder and topped with maraschino cherries, it was a definitely a pleasant yummy surprise!

-chantal on December 8th, 2012

Cheddar and apple
Shockingly, tasty and good
Even as cupcakes

-Anna on December 8th, 2012

Grape

Bet you’re wondering how I knew
About my plans to no longer be blue.

Well, there’s this grape cupcake that had me beat;
Unusually purple, yet moist and sweet.

With its gooey jelly filling,
I was messy but surely winning.

Don’t you know that – it wasn’t the wine
Because I’ve also heard it, through the grape-vine.

When vacationing in Tahiti, I had a coconut cake cupcake filled with real pineapple pieces and topped with a pineapple frosting that was made with pineapple extract, curry powder, nutmeg, cinnamon powder, and coconut flakes! Literally sounds like a mouthful but let me tell you, boy was it delicious! I’m going to try to find a similar recipe and take on the endeavor of baking the cupcakes myself!

I haven’t had the opportunity to try many unusual cupcakes. Probably the most unusual I have had was peanut butter and chocolate cupcakes. If I can share the most unusual cake I have tried it would be sauerkraut & chocolate ( and I definitely would NOT recommend that for a cupcake unless you particularly like the texture of the kraut in the cake ). My family & I would love to try the gourmet cupcakes and holiday flavors from Georgetown Cupcake I am sure the are culinary art!!

The most unusual cupcake I have ever had was an orange creamsicle cupcake

-Scherry on December 9th, 2012

The most unusual cupcake I’ve had so far in life is Goldschlager cupcakes. The batter has buttermilk and goldschlager, and the frosting is a buttercream with more goldschlager and red hot candies that were crushed in the food processor. It is a flavor explosion: the moist, more mild cake balancing well with the eye-popping frosting taste. It was a recipe I found and tweaked, and I definitely tweaked it the right way because it was a hit in my office, the best reaction being my one manager saying “All the booze baked out, right?” and looking at me meaningfully, to which I responded, “Yes, of course!” ;)

-Emily on December 9th, 2012

Maple and bacon!
