Wearing a Sparkly Dress? Pair It With a Shimmery Eye Like Kerry Washington

Since the holidays are around the corner, you can get away with wearing a little extra glitter this time of the year, just do so in moderation. Metallic shadows can wash you out, so make like Washington and define your lashes with a generous sweep of mascara to ground the look. The star’s makeup artist Carola Gonzalez drew inspiration from her outfit, mirroring her dress’s soft lavender tones on her lids. After adding a dramatic sweep of liner, Gonzalez finished with a few coats of Dior’s Diorshow Black Out Mascara ($25; nordstrom.com), which uses kohl pigments in the formula for a smoldering effect.
