Miley Cyrus Cut Her Hair Again, and It’s Even Shorter

Miley Cyrus is scissor-happy! Back in August, the bride-to-be swapped her trademark layers for a pixie crop, and just last week, she chopped her long fringe into a short, piecey style. But this change wasn’t a spur-of-the-moment decision, the singer may have been plotting the spiked ‘do for a while. “While she loves the reveal, Miley’s choices are more calculated than impulsive,” hairstylist Kristina Barricelli, who has worked with Cyrus, told us in our December issue. Dancing with the Stars Finale Tonight: Which Lady Should Win?

For the first time ever, three ladies are competing to take home the Mirrorball Trophy on the 15th All-Star season of Dancing with the Stars! Tonight marks the first night of competition for Shawn Johnson and Derek Hough, Melissa Rycroft and Tony Dovolani, and Kelly Monaco and Val Chmerkovskiy, with dancing continuing into tomorrow night and the finale episode airing Wednesday. Shawn and Kelly are both after their second win (Shawn won season 8 and Kelly was the first winner ever!), while Melissa is working on her first-ever top prize after coming in third in season 8. Catherine’s Red L.K. Bennett Coat: Back for Another Year

We love the coat collection Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge has acquired for England’s chilly weather—just take a look at several here—and there’s one we’ve been hoping she’d slip on again ever since she first debuted it last year: This L.K. Bennett tailored red style. She first wore the wool design with a patent leather red belt to check out the UNICEF Global Supply Center in Copenhagen last November, and the $550 coat immediately became a hot item to buy online. Now no longer available, she whipped it out again—finally… over a year later—to attend the Autumn International rugby match between Wales and New Zealand in Cardiff, Wales on Saturday, this time, wearing it the way it came, sans additional accessories with its built-in silver buckle. One coat, two ways! Isn’t it obvious why we don’t get tired of watching her style?

Holiday Hair Trend We Love: Pompadour Updos

Now this is one way to pump up the volume! Jessica Biel, Rihanna, and Scarlett Johansson each added a retro twist to their hairstyles by incorporating a mini-pompadour for recent appearances. Rihanna and Johansson opted for side-swept versions, while Biel’s finger-wave texture added a graphic edge. The extra height can dress up a familiar style like a bun or ponytail, and is a fun way to hide second-day strands. In fact, skipping a shampoo is recommended—clean, blown-out hair is too slippery to hold this style all day. To try this look, take out a section near the front of your head before securing your updo, and tease gently at the roots. Use a piece of unteased hair to hide the backcombing, and depending on your desired effect, secure the volume either at the side or top of your head. Voila!

The Twilight Saga Tops Record-Breaking Thanksgiving Box Office

Lots of people celebrated Thanksgiving this year with a trip to the movies! In what’s being called the Best-Selling Thanksgiving Ever, the box office totals from the weekend’s top five films exceeded $290 million, according to THR, $20 million more than the previous record from 2009. And, perhaps no surprise here, The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 2 brought in the most dough, earning $64 million from Wednesday to Sunday, according to Box Office Mojo. Daniel Craig’s 007 made a respective showing as well, with Skyfall coming in second at $51 million. Lincoln, Rise of the Guardians, and Life of Pi respectively rounded out the leaders. Wow!

The Hunger Games: Catching Fire: First Poster Revealed

While The Hunger Games: Catching Fire isn’t due out until next November, the poster is already here to get us excited! Fans hoping for a glimpse of Jennifer Lawrence as heroine Katniss Everdeen preparing for theQuarter Quell—a special, high-risk version of the Hunger Games that only takes place every 25 years—still have to wait, as the poster only shows Everdeen’s symbolic Mockingjay pin aflame under the tagline, “Every rebellion begins with a spark.” We can’t wait to see how all the dystopian action will progress! The film is due out November 22, 2013.
