Elin Kling on Her Marciano Collaboration: It’s a Lot of My Personal Style

Nov 12, 2012 @ 3:32 pm

Swedish fashion blogger Elin Kling, creator of Style by Kling, has two new (major!) accomplishments to add to her already impressive resume! After being tapped as the inaugural blogger for a design collaboration with H&M, Kling is now the first-ever person to partner on a collection for Guess. “I’m very honored!” Kling told InStyle.com at the Bloomingdale’s launch of her just-released Fall 2012 collection, Elin Kling for Marciano. “I’ve been very involved with everything, even the marketing. I’m pretty annoying to work with because I want to know everything!” The blogger is associated with her easy-to-replicate street style, which during the cooler months, Kling told us, includes plenty of large scarves and sweaters, like the ones (shown at right) she designed for Marciano. “I definitely have a lot of my personal style in there,” she told InStyle.com. “It’s something you can see. I think people have seen me wear large knits, and I always wear big turtlenecks—you can find all that in the collection.” The Jonna Oversized Sweater is currently sold out on guessbymarciano.com, but the cropped version is available for $178. Revolution’s Tracy Spiridakos: What She Thinks of Being Powerless

Nov 12, 2012 @ 2:59 pm

With another new episode of Revolution on tonight—the lights may be coming back on!—we caught up with star Tracy Spiridakos, who plays leading lady Charlie, to find out if there’s any upside to being in the dark. “The benefit of not having power, to me, would be to see people interacting face to face again,” Spiridakos told InStyle.com. “I’d love to see the games we played as children come back, and to have a group of adults on the street playing dodge ball or hide and seek. We take ourselves to seriously these days, we forget to play.” However, there’s one modern convenience she wouldn’t want to forgo. “I’d have a hard time parting with my phone,” Spiridakos said. “I call my family in Canada daily and not having that luxury would make it that much harder being away from them.” Tune into Revolution tonight at 10/9c on NBC to watch Spiridakos fight to save her family, get more answers about why the power went out, and find out if it’s really coming back on.

Bérénice Marlohe Loves Smoky Eyes! How to Recreate the Look

Nov 12, 2012 @ 2:36 pm

Skyfall earned an impressive $518.6 million worldwide at the box office in its opening weekend, which makes it the top-grossing James Bond debut of all time! We can’t get enough of the high-octane 007 film, or Bond girl Bérénice Marlohe’s premiere ensembles. But what really caught our attention is how the actress topped off each of her gorgeous dresses with a sexy, smoky eye, taking her on-screen persona’s signature look to the red carpet. “I wanted to base her on something feminine but incorporate masculinity too,” she told InStyle‘s September issue. “So, I decided to play her as a cross between a panther and a dragon.” Perhaps we have her character, Severine, to thank for those smoldering feline eyes…

The Good Wife Fashion Details: Season 4, Episode 7

Nov 12, 2012 @ 1:37 pm

A new episode of The Good Wife premiered last night, in which Julianna Margulies’s character Alicia Florrick defended a lewd comedienne, played by guest star Christina Ricci. There were dozens of wardrobe changes in this episode, and costume designer Daniel Lawson worked overtime to represent the opposite attitudes of the characters with their clothing. “I wanted Alicia to look really put together and professional to contrast the character Christina played, who was inappropriately casual at times,” Lawson told InStyle.com. “It was a big script and a big episode, and I wanted Alicia to feel uber-put together and very ensemble-like the whole time.” To do so, he used Altuzarra, Les Copains, Christian Dior, and more. Click through for more details about the fashion last night!

The 2012 MTV Europe Music Awards took place in Frankfurt last night! Germany’s own Heidi Klum hosted the evening, playing up her supermodel expertise by exclusively wearing Versace for the red carpet and during the show, kicking off her fashion show with a lace-up teal and gold design from the label’s spring collection. It was just one of the over-the-top wow-gowns to hit the red carpet, where she was joined by Kim Kardashian (in a Stephane Rolland design with a high-low hem), Taylor Swift (in ivory—not red!—J. Mendel), and Rita Ora (in Marchesa‘s blood red ballgown). Click through the gallery to see more MTV EMA 2012 fashion!

Rihanna Performs “Stay” on SNL: Watch the Video!

Nov 12, 2012 @ 12:09 pm

Rihanna is really out to prove her staying power! The oft-provocative singer’s seventh studio album, Unapologetic, comes out November 19. And in support of its release, RiRi appeared on this weekend’s Saturday Night Live (introduced by host Anne Hathaway). Backed only by a solitary piano and string accompaniment, she took to the stage to premiere her new song, “Stay,” and we have to say—we loved it. Rihanna’s performance of the heart-wrenching ballad was fervent and honest, showing off her powerful pipes in a way we haven’t quite seen before from the Bajan beauty. If the rest of the album is anything like this track, be prepared for an entirely new side of the singer. Watch the video clip above and judge for yourself.

Kate Middleton’s Poppy Brooch: What It Means + Where to Get It

Nov 12, 2012 @ 11:41 am

Similar to the way Americans remember Veteran’s Day (it’s today!), the British have Remembrance Day, also known as Poppy Day, which the United Kingdom celebrated yesterday with a series of events. In London, Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge attended a ceremony at the Cenotaph War Memorial in Whitehall, London, for which she wore her Diane Von Furstenberg black coat and Philip Treacy hat (both repeats), and accessorized her all-black outfit with an appropriately-themed poppy flower pin. The brooch, a piece covered in red and black crystals, is sold by the Royal British Legion, a non-profit organization that provides assistance to enlistees, veterans, and their families. You can pick up one of your own for $24 on poppyshop.org.uk.
