Scandal’s Olivia Pope Fashion Details from Costume Designer

Even in her downtime Olivia Pope (Kerry Washington) is dressed to perfection. On the last episode of Scandal we saw Pope’s softer side: relaxing at her impressive pad, dining on popcorn and Boudreaux (a balanced meal in our opinion!), and stepping into the office sans bigwig clients. The show’s costume designer, Lyn Paolo, filled us in on Pope’s enviable ensemble (pictured) of a creamy silk Gucci blouse and cozy Escada cardigan paired with Max Mara pants. “In the same way that we try to soften Olivia’s look when she is lounging at home, there are also moments at Pope and Associates when she is not with a client,” Paolo told InStyle.com. “We like to get her out of her suits and into something softer and very feminine.” Now that’s our idea of business casual! 2012 MTV EMAs: Our Favorite Manicures

There was no shortage of creative manicures at the 2012 MTV EMAs in Germany last night. Kim Kardashian and Rita Ora matched their digits to their dresses: Kardashian lacquered up in an inky noir to complement her Stephane Rolland design, while Ora tried red lace nail art to play off her Marchesa ballgown. Meanwhile, Heidi Klum and Gwen Stefani also used their outfits as nail inspiration: Klum opted for a bejeweled metallic design, drawing from the studded detail of her Versace lace-up dress, while Stefani added a crisp white statement nail to her two-tone Jean Paul Gaultier outfit. Kelly Clarkson’s “Catch My Breath” Video: Watch It Here!

The original American Idol is back at it, aiming to prove that she’s still got the powerhouse pipes that first earned her the title. Kelly Clarkson just released her music video for “Catch My Breath,” the debut single off her new album, Greatest Hits: Chapter One, which hits stores this Friday, November 16. The “Stronger” chanteuse herself wrote the song, an anthem about taking time to appreciate the simple things in life. “I’ll spend the rest of my time laughing hard with the windows down, leaving footprints all over town,” Kelly belts out with her signature subtle country twang while wearing a beautiful black cutout gown and appearing to float through water, bubbles escaping her mouth where her breath ought to be. Michael Kors Donates $1 Million to Sandy Relief

Michael Kors is the latest big name to sign on to help those devastated by Hurricane Sandy. The celebrity-loved designer has pledged $1 million to the relief effort, according to an announcement the Project Runway judge posted on his blog, Destination Kors. “We are a company based in New York, inspired every day by the energy and beauty of our great city,” the statement said. “The tragedy that Hurricane Sandy has left behind may seem insurmountable, but together, we can all pitch in and help those in need.” Kors will gift the money to The American Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund, which is currently working around the clock to provide food, water, and other supplies to those in need due to storm damage and loss. His donation follows Lady Gaga‘s $1 million pledge and Coach‘s $2 million contribution. Find out how you can help by visiting redcross.org.

Tonight’s Gossip Girl to Feature Frank Ocean Music Exclusively

Each new episode of Gossip Girl brings us one step closer to the series finale (tear!) and to the big reveal of the snarkiest blogger around. While we’re still unsure who it is, we do know that the voice behind Gossip Girl, Kristen Bell, will make a cameo on the last episode of the show, “New York, I Love You XOXOX.” And with only five more to go after tonight’s all-new “Monstrous Ball,” we’re nearing the end of one of our favorite Monday night rituals. Tonight will feature Bell’s commentary as well as R&B sensation Frank Ocean, who will serve as the sole artist on the episode’s soundtrack. Five tracks from his freshman album, Channel Orange, will be played throughout, including the aptly titled “Super Rich Kids.” Tune in to see whether or not Sage (Sofia Black-D’Elia) successfully recruits takedown queen Blair Waldorf (Leighton Meester) to stop the possible engagement between Serena (Blake Lively) and new beau Steven (Barry Watson). TAG Heuer brand ambassadors Cameron Diaz and Leonardo DiCaprio attended the watch company’s A Night Under the Stars gala benefiting New York Cares’s Sandy Relief Effort and gender equality organization United Nations Women. The InStyle cover girl played host for the evening’s festivities, and Leo helped launched the brand’s limited-edition LINK timepiece during the event.
