For our November issue, InStyle chose Revenge star Josh Bowman as our Man of Style! The actor (shown at right, shot exclusively by InStyle) plays Daniel Grayson, Emily Thorne‘s ex-fiance and the only son of the Grayson clan. Bowman talked to InStyle about what it was like being slapped by his television mom, Victoria, played by Madeleine Stowe. “[It was] painful,” he said. “But she was cool, saying, ‘Let’s not do it for real. We’ll fake it. It’s fine.’ And I responded, ‘Hell no! If you’re gonna slap me, slap me!’ Then she says [in an assassin-like voice], ‘OK.’ And immediately I was like, I’ll regret saying that. I’ve been hit before, and she’s up there as one of the best.” And would Stowe (or anyone else in the cast) ever have a reason to slap him in real life? “I do play a lot of pranks on set because I find people can take themselves too seriously—me included,” Bowman said. “Once I put a whoopee cushion on Madeleine’s chair, and she sat on it during a scene. Another time I hid little plastic bugs in Emily’s shoes. I was in my trailer and heard this [high-pitched scream] from hers, and I knew: Yes!
