After announcing its Anna Karenina-inspired capsule collection this summer, Banana Republic has put the goods on shelves (both brick-and-mortar and virtual)! The designs, by Banana’s Creative Director Simon Kneen (inset), have a 1950s feeleven though the film, based on Leo Tolstoy’s classic novel, takes place in 1870s Russiathanks to costume designer Jacqueline Durran’s Dior New Look-inspired ensembles for the film. “You always take something that’s inspiring, and make it modern and relevant,” Kneen told InStyle.com. “We took the simplicity of the 1950s couture shapes—how architectural they were—and worked them back into the 1870s.” The film, starring Keira Knightley and Jude Law, opens in theaters November 16, but to tide you over check out the entire Banana Republic Anna Karenina collection in the gallery below. Clothing ranges in price from $59 to $500, with shoes and accessories retailing for $29 to $225. Then, head over to bananarepublic.com (and select Banana Republic stores) to start shopping!
