Rob Pruitt for Jimmy Choo: The Artistic New Collaboration

Oct 26, 2012 @ 5:19 pm

Contemporary artist Rob Pruitt lent his creative hand to Jimmy Choo to create a collection of sexy pumps, sweet flats, and quirky clutches, which he and the Jimmy Choo creative directors Sandra Choi and Simon Holloway celebrated with a launch party in New York last night. “He flirts a lot with pop culture and celebrity culture, which is part of the Jimmy Choo history, so it felt like a natural marriage,” Holloway told InStyle.com of why they chose to team up with Pruitt. And the artist was thrilled to put his stamp on Choo shoes using exclusive materials developed just for the collaboration. “I like to push the boundaries and push buttons, and maybe push the limits of good taste,” he told us. That’s why he considers these shoes wearable art. “If you buy a pair of these, even if you wear them only once, that’s fine,” he said. “I think it’s perfectly appropriate to set them on your coffee table, or on a pedestal!” Shop the collaboration, including the pieces shown here, at jimmychoo.com.

Oct 26, 2012 @ 4:40 pm

We can always count on Derek Lam to deliver cozy outerwear, which is why we caught up with the designer to find out his ultimate dress-for-fall tip. “Get a great peacoat,” Lam told InStyle.com at last night’s 29th Annual Night of Stars Awards in New York City, where he took home one of the night’s three Star Honoree awards. “There’s nothing like a peacoat. It’s like a trench coat. Borrowed from the guys, it’s sexy—always—on a woman.” His collection boasts a few that we’re coveting, like this luxe cream double-breasted style, available for $2,250 at barneys.com.

Oct 26, 2012 @ 4:33 pm

Stacy Keibler joined Rent the Runway founders Jenn Hyman and Jenny Fleiss in New York City to launch the fashion rental site’s latest feature—Our Runway, a section that sorts customer images by size, height and even cup size to show what designer dresses look like on all different shapes. As for Keibler, a longtime customer of RTR, she had stylist Brad Goreski weigh in on her dress choice—Nanette Lepore’s daisy lace dress. “I loved the color and, actually, when I put it on it just fit perfectly,” Keibler said. Adore Stacy’s dress and want to see what it looks like on all sorts of body types? “I think it’s so incredible!” Carolina Herrera told InStyle.com of Fashion Group International 29th Annual Night of Stars Gala last night, held at Cipriani Wall Street in New York City, which honors the industry’s biggest stars. The always-elegant Herrera radiated a joyful glow all evening, and for good reason—she earned the acclaimed fashion organization’s prestigious Superstar Award, presented to her by her close friend Renee Zellweger. “Carolina Herrera helps women see themselves with confidence and celebrates their great life by making them unforgettable,” Zellweger told the attendees, which also included Kelly Ripa and Seth Meyers’s girlfriend Alexi Ashe dressed in Herrera designs. “She is a visionary.” The gala’s theme, Dream Catchers, also captured the feeling of dreams realized by the night’s Star honorees, Derek Lam (“I will continue to work hard to truly deserve this recognition,” he said), Gareth Pugh, and Haider Ackermann (the latter accepted his honor from Karl Lagerfeld). Meanwhile, Sarah Jessica Parker presented the Lord & Taylor Fashion Oracle award to L’Wren Scott—“She has the ability to telescope what’s necessary, what’s needed, and what people want,” Parker told InStyle.com—while Viola Davis presented the Brand Heritage Award to Max Mara’s Nicola Maramotti. “It seems like every time I put on a Max Mara dress or a coat or a suit, it enhances what I am, it does not hide what I am,” she said of the brand. “Fashion can not be worn, it has to enhance what’s already inside you.” With so many fashion stars in one place, Davis also emphasized that everyone has a little star quality in them, too. “It’s the people who are not afraid to take risks, the people who are confident and comfortable with themselves,” she told InStyle.com. We couldn’t agree more.

Fun Size: In Theaters Today!

Oct 26, 2012 @ 3:18 pm

In the teen comedy Fun Size, Nickelodeon star Victoria Justice (who just hacked her hair) plays Wren, a sarcastic high school senior looking forward to hitting up a Halloween party. But those plans get derailed when her mother Joy (played by the hilarious Chelsea Handler) makes her take younger brother Albert trick-or-treating instead. Albert, of course, goes missing, forcing Wren and her friends to embark on an all-night adventure to find him, crossing paths with a variety of characters along the way. Director Josh Schwartz, creator of shows like The O.C. and Gossip Girl, delivers a fun film that’s smart and charming enough to be enjoyed even by those of us who’ve outgrown our babysitting years! Fun Size is playing in theaters now.
