Modern Family Halloween Episode Airs Tonight, Plus More Spooky TV!

Oct 24, 2012 @ 6:35 pm
Modern Family Courtesy of ABC

Television’s Halloween shenanigans continue on “Open House of Horrors,” tonight’s episode of Modern Family, when Claire (Julie Bowen) is forced to tone down her normally over-the-top decorations and keep it kid-friendly. Her realtor hubby Phil (Ty Burrell) decides to help her by holding an open house on Halloween (hence the episode’s name). Mitch (Jesse Tyler Ferguson) and Cam (Eric Stonestreet) host a very festive costume party, as Gloria’s (Sofia Vergara) pregnancy hormones shoot into overdrive, upping the drama factor between her (note the amazing alien getup!) and husband Jay (Ed O’Neill). Tune into ABC tonight at 9 p.m. EST to see what other hilarity ensues when the entire crew gets in costume. Plus, click through the gallery below to find out which other show’s Halloween episodes are airing this week!

Kelly Wearstler Talks New Interior Design Book, Rhapsody

Oct 24, 2012 @ 5:54 pm

Interior, fashion, and jewelry designer Kelly Wearstler has just released her fourth book of interiors—following tomes Modern Glamour, Domicilium Decoratus, and Hue, Rhapsody showcases Wearstler’s rich breadth of residential creations, divided up by the design elements she loves: metals, raw elements, and architectural form among them. “For this book, I wanted to include a little bit more about my process,” Wearstler told InStyle.com. “A lot of the photographs I took three to four years before [the project was completed], and then you also see them in their finished environment.” And here’s a hint—when flipping through the pages of the book, keep an eye out for sartorial inspirations in the designs. “The interiors are where I created the voice of my work, and it translated into my fashion design,” Wearstler said. She recently did just that, transforming her love for hot pink from interior pieces like the couch pictured above into a leather biker jacket, which made our list of favorite Breast Cancer Awareness products. “I looked at fashion to inspire my interiors, and now I’m looking at interiors to inspire my fashion. I could be looking at jewelry and think this would be a great piece of hardware for a cabinet, or I might see a print in a wallpaper and think this could be a great print for a dress.Rhapsody, published by Rizzoli, is available now for $55 on rizzoliusa.com.

Debra Messing’s Glowing Skin Secrets

Oct 24, 2012 @ 5:16 pm

In between her busy schedule as a mother and an actress, Debra Messing still manages to have perfect skin. After her recent trip to the AMOREPACIFIC spa in New York City, we just had to ask her aesthetician, Lisa Vela, the secret to the star’s flawless face. The answer: some much-needed TLC! “Debra Messing definitely has great skin. The lifestyle of travel, being a mom, and being on set for long hours in a lot of makeup put a lot of stress on her complexion,” Vela told InStyle.com. “She was up early the morning of her facial, which also puts stress on the skin.” But don’t worry if you can’t book an appointment at the spa, the Luminous Effect Brightening Masque ($120; amorepacific.com) is a great at-home alternative. “This hydrating sheet masque instantly creates bright, dewy skin by reducing existing pigmentation for a brighter, more translucent complexion,” she said. “I also recommend products from the Time Response Collection, like the serum, which reverse skin aging on a genetic level.” Shop both at amorepacific.com now, and click through our gallery to see more ways to get a luminous complexion!

Found It via Possessionista! Zooey Deschanel’s New Girl LBD

Oct 24, 2012 @ 4:30 pm

On last night’s episode of New Girl, Jess (Zooey Deschanel) traded her signature breton striped sweaters and vintage dresses for a super sleek LBD when she filled in for Cece (Hannah Simone) as a car show model—and we found her look! The one-shoulder dress is the Ava dress by StopStaring, available for $142 at stopstaring.com. Jess may have had a tough time working the rotating platform, but we had no problem believing she was supermodel Gigglebangs Ricebowl in this cute design. See what else Zooey wore on last night’s episode at possessionista.com.

H&M Launches Maison Martin Margiela Collaboration and More

Maison Martin Margiela H&MSipaUSA (3)

H&M celebrated its new designer collaboration with the Parisian house Maison Martin Margiela in Manhattan last night, and celebrities came to catch a glimpse of this new high-low partnership. Kanye West met Sarah Jessica Parker for the first time on the red carpet—they complimented each other on their Margiela looks—while Julianne MooreMena Suvari, and Selma Blair also made appearances. “I’m so excited to go in and see the collection, and just to be a part of it,” Blair said (though she got her hands on the collab’s LBD early and wore to the party). The bash included a boutique where guests could purchase goodies, and displayed art installations choreographed by Anne Teresa de Keersmaeker featuring Margiela-clad dancers using their bodies on the surface of sand canvases to create designs. Wild, but so totally Margiela. The lineup includes pieces for men and women and lands in H&M stores November 16th.

Oct 24, 2012 @ 3:35 pm

We love shopping for a cause, and QVC is giving us a good reason to tonight with its FFANY Shoes on Sale special. From 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. EST, many of the shoes on qvc.com and on TV will be available for half the manufacturer’s price, with net proceeds benefiting breast cancer research and education, thanks to a special partnership the retailer has with the Fashion Footwear Charitable Foundation (FFANY). On Monday, Nicole Richie, Kristin Cavallari, and Katrina Bowden got a sneak peek at the shoe sale at the 19th Annual FFANY Shoes on Sale gala in New York City, where Richie’s House of Harlow shoes were snatched up quickly by guests. “I’m so excited people are supporting my dream and supporting my work,” she told InStyle.com. “To be a part of this great cause, I felt it was really important.” Tune in, and happy shoe shopping!
