Scandal: Find Out Why Kerry Washington’s Olivia Pope Wears This Outfit

Oct 18, 2012 @ 2:15 pm

On tonight’s all-new episode of Scandal Olivia Pope’s (Kerry Washington) relationship with President Fitz (Tony Goldwyn) reaches its boiling point as a massive government conspiracy begins to unfold. To reflect the intensity of the storyline, costume designer Liz Paolo selected a more somber color for Washington’s character. “I wanted Olivia to be in something darker than usual, although still feminine,” Paolo told InStyle.com. “We chose this Akris Punto jacket which is a bloucle wool that has elements of black, cream, and gray woven into the fabric.” The versatile, fitted jacket is a staple for fall, and we love how Paolo paired it with simple gold jewelry for a sophisticated look. Watch the new episode of Scandal tonight at 10/9c on ABC.

Dita Von Teese Announces Second Fragrance!

Oct 18, 2012 @ 1:19 pm

After debuting her first fragrance earlier this year, Dita Von Teese took to Twitter to announce that a follow-up is on the way! “My second fragrance ROUGE will be available at various stores in Germany this November,” the burlesque star tweeted. The seductive new scent is apparently an inviting combination of orange bergamot, pink pepper, Lapsang Souchong tea, magnolia, and raw amber. “I love the smoky smell of the Lapsang Souchong tea, which we combined with ambergris to create a voluptuous scent,” Von Teese said in a statement about Rouge. Although the perfume is set to debut in Europe next month, we’re still waiting on its U.S. release date!

Dark Lips We Love: Julianne Hough, Kate Bosworth and More!

Oct 18, 2012 @ 12:58 pm

Jennie Garth received the Artistic Excellence Award at last night’s Inner-City Arts 2012 Imagine Awards wearing a David Meister Signature dress and wine-stained lips. The deep, dark makeup is one of the biggest lipstick trends we’ve seen this fall, with Kate Bosworth, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, and Julianne Hough also trying the look. “Anyone can wear a deep shade as long as the skin stays simple and clean with a rosy cheek,” said celebrity makeup artist Molly Stern, who created Hough’s hue. “Fresh skin is key, otherwise you will start to look goth.” So, would you try it?

The last time this many J. Mendel dresses were in one place, it was the Emmys! Only the designer of the label himself—Gilles Mendel, shown with partner Kylie Case—could dress so many stars for one night again, this time for the Third Annual Autumn Party hosted by the Philanthropic Society Los Angeles, held at the London Hotel Rooftop in Los Angeles. “Any actress, and any beautiful woman, is part of my dream to dress,” Mendel told InStyle.com of his Hollywood following, which included party guests Brittany Snow, Sophia Bush, Jamie Lynn-Sigler, New Girl’s Hannah Simone, and Garcelle Beauvais. “I love when you get into one of his dresses, you really feel like you’re a woman,” Snow told InStyle.com before posing for photos in a silver strapless cocktail look by the designer with gal pal Sophia Bush. “The way the clothes are made make you feel really classy and put together.” The two stuck side-by-side all night, sipping Champagne along with the rest of the 400 attendees in candlelit cabanas overlooking the Los Angeles skyline—a beautiful setting to watch a fashion show of J. Mendel’s new resort collection, which also took place at the soiree. The evening benefited the Children’s Institute, Inc., a non-profit dedicated to child abuse and neglect treatment and prevention. Click through the gallery to see more stars at the J. Mendel party, and more photos from this week’s hottest events.
