Isaac Mizrahi Launches First Women’s Fragrance, Fabulous

Oct 18, 2012 @ 6:35 pm

Isaac Mizrahi has crossed over into the world of beauty! Best known for his eponymous fashion line, the Project Runway: All Stars judge debuted his first women’s fragrance, Fabulous, at the Bloomingdale’s flagship in Manhattan. To celebrate his love and appreciation for all women, the designer wanted to create a scent that represented the beauty and confidence seen on the New York City streets. “Perfume is the most emotional thing a woman wears,” Mizrahi told InStyle.com. “I think the craziness of each woman’s life adds to the fabulousness, and I hope that reflects in the bottle.” The light pink, art deco-inspired bottle holds a feminine blend of fruity florals with notes of jasmine, mandarin, sandalwood, and vanilla. Pick one up today for $20 to $78 at Bloomingdale’s, and on qvc.com.

Check out star scents in the gallery below!

Amsale’s New Wedding Dress Collection: See the Photos

Oct 18, 2012 @ 5:30 pm

Manhattan was a chic source for Amsale‘s fall bridal 2013 show, aptly named “Metropolitan.” Calling it a “love letter the sleek style of New York City,” designer Amsale Aberra created a collection celebrating understated elegance with streamlined silhouettes that would allow the bride’s personality shine through. To that point, hot pink lips added drama to the less-is-more designs, which ranged from short, retro party dresses to architecturally-sculpted peplum gowns. Check out all of the looks in the gallery.

Donna Karan Opens “Connecting the Dots” Exhibition; Honors Mayor Bloomberg

Oct 18, 2012 @ 4:49 pm

Donna Karan welcomed Mayor Michael Bloomberg, Lucy Liu, and more of New York City’s tastemakers to help her open the new “Connecting the Dots” exhibition at her Urban Zen Center, which featured sculptures and drawings from her late husband, Stephan Weiss. “He connected the dots in life and art and this exhibition is a window into his world and passion,” Karan told guests. “It has been 11 years since he’s passed and he really is the inspiration for everything that I do.” With that inspiration in mind, the designer created the Stephen Weiss Apple Award, and bestowed this year’s honor to the Mayor himself. “Donna once said New York means the world, and I honestly couldn’t agree more,” he said. “Donna is the quintessential New Yorker. She is everything this city is and should be. Stephan was the quintessential New Yorker as well.” Turning to Karan, he added: “I may be the mayor of New York City, but you are the Queen of Seventh Avenue!” You can still experience the exhibition even if you’re not in New York—Karan created a corresponding book, Stephan Weiss: Connecting the Dots, on sale for $95 at assouline.com.

Oct 18, 2012 @ 4:48 pm

The Kardashian beauty empire continues to expand! Khloe Kardashian Odom and husband Lamar strike a pose in the new campaign for their second collaborative unisex fragrance, Unbreakable Joy. A follow-up to the couple’s premiere perfume, Unbreakable—which was released last year to celebrate Valentine’s Day, the scent aims to capture the essence of the holidays, when it is set to hit retail. According to a statement from Khloe: “The holiday season is all about surrounding yourself with the ones you adore, and we wanted to create a fragrance that really captures that overpowering joy you feel during this wonderful time.” The first campaign image shows the reality stars getting cozy and includes a cute message from Lamar to his lady: “A thing of beauty is a joy forever. Khloe, you are my joy.” The combo perfume/cologne incorporates notes of fresh spices, champagne, jasmine, chocolate truffle, cedar wood, and musk. Famed fashion photographer Mario Testino celebrated his first-ever U.S. museum show last night at the Boston Museum of Fine Arts, where shoe designer Stuart Weitzman—Testino shot the footwear giant’s recent ad campaign—co-hosted (along with Swarovski) the likes of Gisele Bündchen, whose image is featured in the exhibit. “Mario’s work over the past three decades speaks for itself,” Weitzman told InStyle.com exclusively. “His photographs have the uncanny ability to transcend the page, and capture the true essence of fashion and glamour. [Testino's] advertising campaign for Stuart Weitzman has made a profound impact on the brand, and helped us to expand globally, seducing women around the world. We are incredibly honored to share in the celebration.” The two-part photo exhibition, dubbed In Your Face and British Royal Portraits, opens this Sunday (October 21) and runs through February 3 and June 16, respectively. On display are some of Testino’s most memorable shots, like Madonna‘s Ray of Light album cover, InStyle cover girl Gwyneth Paltrow dancing in a Paris hotel room, and, of course, numerous shots of our favorite royals, including Kate Middleton and Prince William. Visit mfa.org for more information on how you can see the iconic images.

Poll: Are the Presidential Debates and Baseball Interfering With Your Favorite Shows?

Oct 18, 2012 @ 2:25 pm

The powers that be our messing with our favorite primetime shows! America’s favorite pastime, baseball, and this little thing called the Presidential election keep bumping around the lineup. Last night, The X Factor went to a commercial break and never returned thanks to a baseball rain delay, leaving only 10 out of the 16 final contestants announced to the dismay of many fans—us included. (The show is supposed to return next week, and bump out new episodes of the New Girl and The Mindy Project!) Plus, Glee went on a forced month-long hiatus, not to return until November 4th. “I had nothing to do with it,” Ryan Murphy told InStyle.com at this week’s Golden Hearts Awards. “People think I control the schedule or something. I would like to take this opportunity to say I fought it.” So, we want to know: Are you upset that your shows have been rescheduled?
