We’re Watching: NBC’s Revolution Tonight

Oct 8, 2012 @ 3:04 pm

Like Lost and Game of Thrones, it seems no character is safe on J.J. Abrams’s Revolution. We know someone is going down on tonight’s episode and we’re hoping it’s not Charlie (Tracy Spiridakos), pictured here with Twilight’s Billy Burke as Miles Matheson. Tune in tonight at 10 p.m. EST on NBC to see what happens when Charlie, Miles, and their motley crew reunite with Maggie and Aaron. Where they go, the militia follows.

The Good Wife Fashion Details: Season 4, Episode 2

Oct 8, 2012 @ 2:38 pm

The Good Wife costume designer Daniel Lawson gave InStyle.com the exclusive inside scoop about what Alicia Florrick (Julianna Margulies) and Diane Lockhart (Christine Baranski) wore on last night’s new episode. “This week, it was really about de-extreming and rebuilding the looks,” Lawson said. “You want these women to be as fashion-forward as they can be, but we don’t want to be extreme.” To achieve this balancing act, he customized each piece that landed on screen, taking out some of the ruffles of the navy L.K. Bennett jacket, for instance, and hemming the tails on the skirt and jacket of this burgundy Oscar de la Renta suit. Click through the gallery for more details straight from the set!

Monique Lhuillier on Dressing Jennifer Garner for the Argo Premiere

Oct 8, 2012 @ 2:18 pm

When Jennifer Garner wore Monique Lhuillier’s red contoured column dress to the Los Angeles premiere of Argo last week, she topped the list of ladies who qualified for Look of the Day—and, according to our poll, was your strong favorite for best dressed celebrity of the whole week! The gown comes from Lhuillier’s Fall 2012 collection, with a twist: Garner removed the belt. “The look had a belt to cinch the waist in, but she didn’t need it,” the designer told InStyle.com at the Hammer Museum’s 10th Annual Gala in Los Angeles. “Other than that, it was straight off the runway. It was very fluid and close to the body, and the leather gave it an edgier feel. And everyone forgets that she just had a baby. I thought she looked fabulous.” We think so too!

Ever since Justin Theroux popped the question to Jennifer Aniston in August, we’ve been on the lookout for the diamond sparkler that made her say yes. Until recently, she’s been shy about showing it in public. But that changed in Sante Fe this weekend, when she flashed her solitaire as she kissed her beau. “Having experienced everything you don’t want in a partner over time, it starts to narrow down to what you actually do want,” she told InStyle of her actor-director-screenwriter partner. “As I get older, I realize what qualities are important in love and what suits me. And what I won’t settle for.” Now that you’ve see it close-up, what do you think? Leave your unfiltered thoughts in the comments!

No man stood a chance of stealing the spotlight from Jessica Biel, Jennifer Garner, Halle Berry, and more of Hollywood’s leading ladies who came to celebrate Variety’s fourth annual Power of Women luncheon at the Four Seasons in Beverly Hills, which honored celebrity women for their philanthropic work. Not even Justin Timberlake, on hand to see his wife-to-be receive the Tiffany & Co. Luminary Award for her work with Charity: Water, could compete. “To be in the company of these incredible women and the charities they represent is humbling,” Biel told the crowd. “Someone told me the other day that the best thing a man can do for his long-term health is to have a wife. And the best thing a woman can do for her health is to have good girlfriends. Standing in this room right now, can’t you feel the power and energy?” See more photos from the inspiring event in the gallery.

Gossip Girl Returns: Blake Lively’s Hair Secret Weapon Revealed

Oct 8, 2012 @ 11:48 am

Gossip Girl returns tonight with its sixth and final season! And while we hope all secrets will be revealed—who is Gossip Girl!?—we uncovered the secret behind Blake Lively’s perfectly tousled tresses thanks to the show’s hairstylist Liz Reilly. “It’s honestly quite easy,” Reilly told InStyle.com. “Her long, beachy waves are a look that we’ve been doing since the beginning.” For the piecey, high-volume look, Reilly relies on her secret weapon: Oribe Dry Texturizing Spray ($39, oribe.com). “Spray the texturizer at the root of dry hair for a nice lift and hold,” she told us. “To get Blake’s look, I generously use the spray then roll her hair into a bun and let in set.” Then, after a few minutes and a light veil of hairspray, she lets the bun loose and rakes fingers through the strands.
