A chic sparkler is the ultimate statement-maker, so be sure your accessories say exactly what you want them to. (We’re sure the ladies of the Emmys would agree, especially Sofia Vergara in all her 175-carat glory.) For our October issue, InStyle rounded up nine pieces from four new lines and figured out exactly what message they put across. J’adore Chanel! If you’re still marveling at the clothes and accessories from Chanel’s latest fashion show (how could you forget the signature quilted bag encased in a hula hoop?), the French fashion house is giving us one more gem to keep us buzzing well into the weekend—a dedicated micro-site to explore the history and legendary creations of Mademoiselle Coco herself. Divided into two parts, the new online destination features a timeline of the house’s history and a section focusing on the muses who inspired Chanel’s best-known fragrance, N°5, from Marilyn Monroe to Keira Knightley. See for yourself at inside-chanel.com.

Looking to add a little extra drama to your peepers this weekend? Take a cue from Debra Messing, who wowed with exaggerated eyes at the the 2012 United Nations Every Woman Every Child Dinner in New York City. And we got the inside scoop! To make the Smash star’s green eyes really pop, her makeup artist Gita Bass first lined her top and bottom lids with Makeup Forever Aqua Eyes in Forest Green ($18, sephora.com). Before the waterproof liner set, she blended the top lid to create a soft, smudged line. “Debra is blessed with thick and insanely long lashes,” Bass told InStyle.com, “but for extra drama, I applied individual lashes to fill in any gaps.” After curling and applying two coats of mascara, Bass pulled out the big guns: Ardell Duralash Knot-Free Long Black Lashes ($5, purespadirect.com). She started by attaching medium-length lashes to the outer corners and then alternated with shorts all the way along the lash line for thickness and length. The final touch: tracing over the upper lash line with a gel liner in black for extra intensity.
