Solange Knowles’s New “Losing You” Music Video: Watch It Here!

Beyoncé’s little sis Solange Knowles knows how to balance her love of fashion—she recently sat front row in Milan and New York—and music. This week she turns her attention to the latter, releasing the first follow-up track and video to her debut album, 2008′s Sol-Angel and the Hadley St. Dreams, “Losing You.” The video is a visual jackpot for lovers of fashion, co-styled by Solange herself and Beyoncé’s stylist Ty Hunter. Filmed in Cape Town, South Africa, it features high-fashion looks supplied by the likes of Kenzo, Diane von Furstenberg, J.Crew, Suno, and Opening Ceremony. “When I wear something girlish, like pastels, I tend to do it in tailored silhouettes, like menswear-style pants,” she told InStyle of how she picks her looks recently. The Biggest Designer Debuts at Paris Fashion Week

After months of anticipation, the new guard has arrived at two of the most important French fashion houses, and they made their debuts during Paris Fashion Week. On September 28th, Raf Simons revealed his first ready-to-wear collection for Christian Dior. (He’s the first designer at the house since the 2011 exit of John Galliano.) Simons served up so many terrific looks that InStyle Managing Editor Ariel Foxman tweeted 11 pictures from his front-row seat. Then, just last night, Hedi Slimane made his return to design with his first collection for the newly renamed/re-branded/reborn Saint Laurent. (Good-bye, Yves!) A star-studded and designer-packed front row, including Salma Hayek, Kate Moss, Jessica Chastain, Diane Von Furstenberg, Vivienne Westwood, and Alexander Wang, came to see the powerful collection, which was filled with sequined jackets, slim-cut trousers, and floor-sweeping, rock star-worthy blousy dresses.

Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show 2012: The Three Musical Phases of Sexy

The lingerie leaders at Victoria’s Secret took to the brand’s Facebook page today to announce the three musical performers who will share the glitter-covered stage with the Angels this December 4 at 10 p.m. EST on CBS. In a more pop-geared turn (compared with last year’s hip-hop dominated performances from Kanye West, Jay-Z, and Nicki Minaj), this year’s trio is Bruno Mars, Rihanna, and Justin Bieber. Traditionally, the looks the models wear are inspired by the performer they follow, so here’s our take on what to expect this year: The angels who walk to Mars (PS, his new single drops tonight at 7 p.m. EST on his YouTube page!) might don sweet, lovely lingerie (because he loves them just the way they are), those who walk after Bieber will likely skew toward come-hither looks (because he wants to be their boyfriend), and those who come after RiRi will probably wear wild-and-sparkly looks dripping in rhinestones and crystals (because she shines bright like a diamond). It should be a spectacle to behold.

Karina Smirnoff’s DWTS Inspiration: Sarah Jessica Parker and Mad Men!

On last night’s episode of Dancing with the Stars, Karina Smirnoff channeled some of her favorite fashionable women for her quickstep with partner Apolo Anton Ohno. “When I watched the 2009 Oscars and saw Sarah Jessica Parker in an amazing, fairy-tale-like mint Dior Haute Couture dress, she looked so stunning and glamorous,” she told InStyle.com of her inspiration for her pale yellow layered dress with jewels on top. As for her retro hair and makeup, she turned to TV’s finest: “I’m also a huge fan of Mad Men, which takes place in the ’60s in New York City, and the ladies are stylish and sophisticated,” she said. “I love the bold lipstick and the pinned up hair with tight curls because it makes every girl feel sexy!” Tell us: Did you like Karina’s design this week?

Tune In Tonight! Hart of Dixie Returns

We already know that Olympic gymnast McKayla Maroney will join the cast of the CW’s Hart of Dixie this year, but what other surprises are in store for season two? Rachel Bilson returns as Dr. Zoe Hart, with Jamie King as sidekick Lemon Breeland, to explore the rough-and-tumble world of tiny Bluebell, Alabama. But there’s nothing rough about the fashion on the show: Monique Lhuillier, the Olsen twins’ Elizabeth and James, and even Bilson’s own ShoeMint have all made cameos. Watch tonight at 8 p.m. EST on the CW.

As the longtime spokesperson (18 years!) for the Estee Lauder Companies’ Breast Cancer Awareness Campaign, Elizabeth Hurley needs a lot of pink clothing. As it turns out, finding shades of rose, fuchsia, peony, and more pretty pinks is a year-round project. “We pretty much monopolize everything pink that comes into any collection ever,” she told InStyle.com at the opening of the Campaign’s 20th Anniversary exhibition in New York City (find out how to donate to the cause on Facebook here!). “We have a wonderful stylist that works with us and she’ll always email me, ‘We found another pink dress! Michael Kors has a pink dress, Issa has a pink dress!’ So we hoard them up, because there’s not a lot of pink around.” While in Milan for the Roberto Cavalli show last week, Hurley snuck in a bit of shopping: ”I managed to walk off with about six pink things in my suitcase, many of which have been worn today already. We raid anywhere we can.” And all in the name of a good cause!

Runway Looks We Love: Saint Laurent

All eyes were on Hedi Slimane as he showed his first collection in Paris this week for Saint Laurent (no longer Yves Saint Laurent), including designers Marc Jacobs, Alber Elbaz, and Diane von Furstenberg who watched each look turn down the runway from their front row perch. Everyone seemed to be pleased with the debut—us included—especially due to the standout sequined jackets, slim-cut trousers, and floor-sweeping, rock star-worthy blousy dresses in bold hues. Adding to the bohemian vibe, each model donned ‘70s-inspired hats and platform pumps, while stacked and studded bracelets, tassel necklaces and wide corset belts rounded out the accessories offerings.
