Shop It Now: DSW’s Cinderella Shoe Collection

Oct 1, 2012 @ 3:44 pm

Princesses-in-training take note: In keeping with Cinderella’s big year, DSW has launched a collection of evening and wedding-appropriate pumps inspired by the fairy-tale character’s signature footwear. Out today, the line ranges from simple beaded white satin pumps ($90) to glitter-encrusted magenta sparklers ($60) that Disney’s 1950 princess might have traded in her glass slippers for. Priced from $60 to $90, the shoes are available on dsw.com. Fairy godmother not included.

Runway Looks We Love: Givenchy

Oct 1, 2012 @ 3:30 pm

At Givenchy, Riccardo Tisci presented a tough-as-ever collection—with a twist. In a lineup of suiting, separates and oh-so-sexy gowns, ruffles offered a surprising addition to the otherwise clean lines. Pops of pastel stood out among the mostly black and white palette for another soft touch. However, strong accessories, including sexy gold collars and transparent sandals, ensured that every ensemble had that Givenchy edge. Check out our favorite looks in the gallery!

Oscars 2013: Seth MacFarlane to Host 85th Annual Academy Awards

Oct 1, 2012 @ 3:17 pm

This year’s Oscars will get a breath of fresh air (along with a few laughs), thanks to their new host, Family Guy creator Seth MacFarlane. “It’s truly an overwhelming privilege to be asked to host the Oscars,” the 38-year-old said in a statement. “My thoughts upon hearing the news were, one, I will do my utmost to live up to the high standards set forth by my predecessors; and two, I hope they don’t find out I hosted the Charlie Sheen Roast.” In addition to masterminding TV’s Family Guy and American Dad, MacFarlane is the man behind the box-office smash Ted, which starred Mark Wahlberg alongside a talking teddy bear. The 85th Annual Academy Awards will air February 24, 2013 on ABC. The question on everyone’s mind: Will he take his signature brand of raunchy humor to the Oscar stage?

Runway Looks We Love: Stella McCartney

Oct 1, 2012 @ 2:55 pm

Stella McCartney’s spring 2013 collection managed to combine drama and understatement with shapes (exaggerated shoulders, sheer panels, and extreme drop-waists) as statement-making as the colors (tangerine, cobalt, and kelly green). A master of bridging masculine with feminine, McCartney gave her cool-girl suiting extra impact by contrasting slouchy slacks against nipped-waist jackets, while her peek-a-boo sheaths are sure be favorites on red carpets. The finishing touch: sleek accessories, including coordinated Lucite sandals and bags ranging from geometric minaudieres to boxy totes. Check out our favorite looks in the gallery!

666 Park Avenue: What They’re Wearing (and Why!)

Oct 1, 2012 @ 1:43 pm

On last night’s series premiere of 666 Park Avenue, we got a preview of the show’s mysterious storylines and impressive Upper East Side fashion. The show’s stylist Caroline Duncan told InStyle.com she’s trying “to strike a balance between fashion and fear” for this supernatural show, especially for characters Jane Van Veen (Rachael Taylor) and Olivia Doran (Vanessa Williams). “Olivia has an artistic, avant-garde eye, so she gravitates towards prints,” Duncan said of the elegant Chinese motif dress she wore in the premiere. “She’s bold and brave and has had money her whole life, so she has exquisite taste.” As for Jane, expect a preppier, classic look, which is a stark contrast to the bright Alexander McQueen gown she wore in last night’s episode. “Olivia gifted Jane the red dress, so it’s very dramatic,” Duncan said. “Jane’s character wouldn’t have gravitated to something that strong because she’s not as showy. We’re trending toward a feminine, clean 1960s silhouette for Jane—think Audrey Hepburn and Jackie O—that’s our jumping point.” We can’t wait to see what’s coming up next week! Tell us: What did you think of the fashion last night?
