Anne Hathaway’s Wedding Dress: Valentino Garavani?

Sep 21, 2012 @ 5:20 pm

The fashion world is all abuzz that legendary designer Valentino Garavani will design Anne Hathaway‘s wedding dress when she says “I do” to fiancé Adam Schulman. And while the designer is certainly the most logical choice (Hathaway wears Valentino all the time, and the two are “very good friends,” according to Garavani), we’re waiting with bated breath to see how things unfold. Valentino the man hasn’t publicly designed a dress in years, after he announced his retirement in 2007—and Valentino the maison is currently under the creative direction of Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pierpaolo Piccioli, who are behind the gorgeous sheer floral gown the actress wore last night to the New York City Ballet Fall Gala. Whether Hathaway’s wedding dress is crafted by the legendary designer himself or by the Italian fashion house he founded, one thing’s for certain, Anne will not be wearing anything seen in a recent Valentino collection. Look for a completely custom, one-off or for Anne Hathaway to pull a stunner from the vast Valentino archives. Either way, we’re certain she’ll look gorgeous. Tell us in the comments: Do you want to see the actress walk down the aisle in a Garavani gown?

Gossip Girl and Kate Middleton Match… Again!

Sep 21, 2012 @ 5:14 pm

We’re seeing double! This geometric square-print Jonathan Saunders dress garnered some royal fans—from Gossip Girl Queen Kelly Rutherford on the Upper East Side set to Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge during her recent Jubilee Tour of Southeast Asia. And this isn’t the first time GG and UK high-class society style aligned—earlier this week we got a sneak peek at Blake Lively’s (aka Serena’s) premiere look, which is a Jenny Packham gown nearly identical to one Princess Kate wore to the Olympic concert back in May. There’s so much to XOXO about here!

Poppy Red Lips Are Everywhere!

Sep 21, 2012 @ 4:48 pm

Brighten up your fall look with a poppy red pout. As bold as it is pretty, a crimson lip adds instant glamour to any ensemble. Get inspired by the exaggerated lips from the Prada Spring 2013 runway or take a cue from our InStyle Makeover cover girl, Julianne Hough, who recently stepped out with a prominent pucker. Everyone can pull off the look—the key is finding the right color for your complexion. If you have fair skin, look for hues with blue undertones, while warmer skin tones should stick with shades that have a yellow-orange base. Just remember when wearing a bold red lip to dab a light layer of concealer onto your pout before applying product. This mutes your natural lip color and allows the true shade to come through. Gabrielle Union, Cobie Smulders, and Solange Knowles all recently made beauty statements with red lipstick. Plus, click through the gallery below for more celebrities working the on-trend poppy pucker.

Valentino Painted the New York City Ballet Valentino Red

Valentino took over the New York City Ballet last night! The legendary Italian designer lent his decades of couture expertise to the NYCB’s annual fall gala, where he created costumes for all of the principal dancers in four of the five vignette performances, each of which contained a hint of classic Valentino red, from the peekaboo lace to the pointe shoes. (Scroll down to see the photo of him on stage to take a bow.) “You always know when someone has skill, but to see it at work like this, to see the discipline of creating, not just a dress but a costume, my admiration for him has grown ever more so,” said Sarah Jessica Parker (in Valentino Haute Couture), who conceptualized the idea of having the designer collaboration as co-chair of the gala. The entire evening was filled with admiration for the 80-year-old always-tan man, as his celebrity fans like Anne Hathaway, Karolina Kurkova (in Valentino red!), Iman, and more filed in to congratulate him on a job well done (while all wearing Valentino). “They were breathtaking and out of this world and totally him,” Hathaway said of the costumes. The event kicked off the fall season of the New York City Ballet, and raised money for the artistic organization. Bravo! *Throw a rose!* *Throw a rose!*
