Each year our editors go behind-the-scenes for New York Fashion Week, and this year we’re sharing our VIP views with you! Throughout the shows, InStyle is bringing you all of our coverage on Instagram—making you our plus-one for fashion week’s top runways, parties, and more. Today, we gushed at how adorable Lela Rose‘s daughter and dog were backstage, oogled one of our favorite Cullens, Ashley Greene, at Donna Karan, and primped with the Thakoon models. Check out more of today’s best photos, and stay tuned for your daily dose of Fashion Week!
Oh, what a night—or make that week—of pretty dresses and parties galore. We spotted Karlie Kloss at Jason Wu‘s VIP table at the Top of the Standard, sharing a hug to celebrate his successful, x-ray-inspired spring collection. “The dress Karlie wore was my favorite,” Wu told us at the post-show fete with La Perla. “It was ethereal, it was tough, and it was beautiful at the same time. It was everything that I wanted to say about the collection.” Click through to see more of Fashion Week’s best parties in the gallery.
Oh, the things we’ve seen! It’s midway through the biggest style convergence of the year, and the designers have not disappointed. So far, 60 (!) of them have presented their spring 2013 collections at Lincoln Center (that’s not counting all those at other locations.) Our editors have an all-access, behind-the-scenes pass at Fashion Week, and this fall we’re sharing our VIP views with you. See the hottest looks straight from the runways, the coolest backstage Instagrams, front-row celebrities (and their plus-ones) and the nail art ideas we’re stealing! Get all the details now. More
The city is just as much a part of DKNY as Donna Karan, which is why Reflections of New York was a fitting title for the label’s spring show. Filled with “ready for everything” pieces, the collection ranged from casually cool weekend-ready denim to sleek gowns perfect for the red carpet. Constructed from streetwise fabrics like neoprene, mesh and leather, these styles would definitely stand out on the busiest of Manhattan streets (particularly those bright yellow pieces, like the head-turning finale dress) while utilitarian accessories, including fanny packs (yes, fanny packs!) and buckled boots, would keep the DKNY girl on the go. Lauren Conrad has been one busy lady! The brain behind Paper Crown clothes and The Beauty Department has been spotted at four New York Fashion Week shows already—(from left to right) Tracy Reese, Lela Rose, Rebecca Minkoff, and Kate Spade. And it’s only the fourth day of New York Fashion Week! “I’m really excited about all of the shows I’ve seen!” Conrad told us front row at Tracy Reese this afternoon. And it’s impossible for her to pick a favorite: “Tracy does a really great job with prints and colors. There were so many beautiful dresses at Lela—I’m a big fan always. Rebecca’s a friend, I’m always watching her stuff. And things are getting so fun at Kate Spade, there’s such a sense of humor.” Sounds like the former Hills star has seen the best of the best this week! We can’t wait to see where she goes next—or what she’ll wear.

New York Fashion Week didn’t stop for the weekend! Ashley Greene gave us the scoop on Donna Karan’s DKNY collection (hint: that gorgeous gown is made of neoprene), while Victoria Beckham got emotional when taking her final bow. Click through to the gallery for all the fashion gossip!
Needless to say, the Mrs. Obama was the topic of conversation at today’s Tracy Reese show. “I think Michelle Obama is a very inspiring woman and the opportunity to dress her has always been an honor for us,” the designer told InStyle.com. “She is the essence of women I already understand, she expresses herself—she’s not dictated to by fashion or even her situation. She’s really been a modern First Lady in that she makes her own choices.” For the now-iconic DNC dress, Reese updated a Spring 2012 design with a fresh color scheme. “The colors were amazing,” said Reese, “But it ended up being what she brought to the dress—it was the right time, the right moment, the right place, definitely the right woman and the right speech.” And—good news for the rest of us!—the designer is rushing replicas of the dress into production.

Mandy Moore may just be Lela Rose‘s biggest fan! She told us she was honored to have been invited to accompany the designer to the 2012 CFDA Awards in June (center right in custom Lela Rose) and explained at Rose’s spring presentation today just why she loves to wear her looks so often. “Lela’s clothes are sophisticated and very feminine, and they show off that side of me—which is about half of me,” Moore, in a lemon Rose dress (left), told us from her front row seat. For her other half, she told us, “Today, I added this leather jacket and flats. I like to add something with an edge, that’s the fun of fashion!” Great tip: Mix it, match it, and make it your own!
