Runway Looks We Love: Christian Siriano

Sep 8, 2012 @ 10:37 pm

Christian Siriano‘s designing dream may be a reality, but his collections are still pure fantasy! The Project Runway alum’s spring line came to him from an American Ballet performance of A Midsummer’ Night’s Dream. True to the onstage inspiration, the runway was adrift with floaty fabrics and graceful silhouettes that included structured peplums, tulle dresses and whimsical gowns. Not to be outdone, the prettiest shoes were satin and studded in crystal, while lace-up iridescent flats would make a dancer’s commute to and from the ballet a breeze.  See our favorite looks in the gallery!

Runway Looks We Love: Alexander Wang

Sep 8, 2012 @ 10:20 pm

True to form, Alexander Wang‘s spring accessories were striking and swoon-worthy. There was the statement shoe (minimal strappy garter boots) and a two-in-one standout bag perfect for work or weekend. The clothing, in stark white and black, featured sexy cutouts that revealed slivers of skin. In addition to supermodels Erin Wasson and Jourdan Dunn, Liberty Ross took to the runway to model the strong collection that included chic toppers like hooded windbreakers, cropped parkas and “molded” cable-knit muscle tanks. Wang has become known for surprise endings (for fall, Gisele Bundchen closed the show with her fellow supermodels) and this season was no exception. When the lights went down, it was revealed that the last grouping of white dresses glowed in the dark! See our favorite looks in the gallery!

Another day at the Toronto International Film Festival brought another round of celebrities to InStyle‘s pop-up portrait studio! Amy Adams stopped by in Giambattista Valli to talk about her new film, The Master, Elle Fanning flew in from filming Malificent in London to say hello for her whirlwind Ginger & Rosa press tour, and Kristen Stewart took a break from all the hoopla surrounding her On the Road opening for a morning with InStyle‘s crew. “Everything was incredibly all-encompassing all the time,” Stewart told InStyle.com of working with co-stars Garrett Hedlund and Kirsten Dunst on the film. “I was very much involved with the movie constantly, constantly. And considering the nature of the film, it was a lot of fun.” Click through the gallery to see more photos and get all the insider info!

TIFF 2012: InStyle Toasts to the Cast of What Maisie Knew

Sep 8, 2012 @ 9:20 pm

InStyle hosted the cast of What Maisie Knew for a private dinner to celebrate their new film its official premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival. While Julianne Moore and Alexander Skarsgard (in Gucci) brought the star power to the Windsor Arms Hotel where the dinner was held, it was the 7-year-old actress who plays Maisie, Onata Aprile, who stole the spotlight. “She has this raw quality,” Skarsgard said of his pint-size co-star. “She has this emotion, this energy that was just there. I fell in love in like two seconds, and then I was gone—so in love with her.” And like her character, Aprile knows: Both Skarsgard and Moore scooped her into their arms after reuniting for the first time at the dinner. It was adorable overload!

Runway Looks We Love: Herve Leger

Sep 8, 2012 @ 9:13 pm

Inspired by the “the sultry South” and the traditional art of quilt making, Herve Leger‘s spring collection featured embroidery, patchwork and appliques. The label’s signature bandage dresses ranged from sexy cutout styles to sweet flared designs and were even joined by a pantsuit! With a color palette of black white and blush, surprise pop-of-color blue sapphire numbers were standouts as were the label’s tough leather accessories. See our favorite looks in the gallery!

Lena Dunham Cut Her Hair 6 Hours Before Rachel Antonoff’s Show!

Sep 8, 2012 @ 7:02 pm

Talk about cutting it close! Lena Dunham, creator and star of HBO’s Girls, chopped her chin-length bob into a long pixie with side-swept bangs just six hours before attending Rachel Antonoff’s New York Fashion Week presentation! “Rachel’s the wittiest designer in the world, and one of my best friends,” Dunham told InStyle.com. “Whenever I’m getting dressed, Rachel is always my first thought. I ask myself, What would Rachel put together?” Must be a cropped ‘do and a strawberry sweater that says “I’m with Her.” (Aw, cute!) Tell us: What do you think of Lena’s new haircut?

Herve Leger’s Lubov Azria Hearts Michelle Obama

Sep 8, 2012 @ 7:00 pm

When asked whether she’d rather see Michelle Obama or Ann Romney in her Herve Leger designs, Lubov Azria did not hesitate with her reply: “Michelle Obama.” Although she understands that the First Lady has a few wardrobe restrictions (“obviously she is in public”), Azria vouches for the functionality of the label’s classic bandage dress. “When she wears those shift dresses, I’m like, try Herve Leger on,” she told InStyle.com. “It never wrinkles and you’ll never look bad!”
