Runway Looks We Love: Celine

Sep 30, 2012 @ 5:05 pm

Celine designer Phoebe Philo delivered a sleek collection for spring 2013. The designer offered a variety of chic work looks—from crisp jackets paired with slouchy pants to silky skirt and knotted top combos in subdued palettes of black, navy, and cream. For evening, we loved her inventive interpretations of the classic cocktail dress, with mesh inserts and frayed hemlines. The bags did not disappoint (the foldover clutch is the perfect day-to-night style, especially in lipstick red), while the chunky knotted leather bracelets are an instant outfit-maker. However, the most unexpected element of the collection was the fur footwear—flat sandals and pumps covered in colorful, fluffy fur. Check out our favorite looks in the gallery.

Anne Hathaway is now Mrs. Adam Shulman! The couple exchanged vows on Saturday, September 29th in Big Sur, California, People reports, where the bride wore a custom off-the-shoulder style gown by Valentino. The pair got engaged last November, when her actor beau, 31, proposed to the now 29-year-old with an emerald-cut sparkler by the New York jewelry company Kwiat. “I’m enjoying myself very, very, very much,” the 29-year-old told InStyle of her relationship for our March 2010 cover story. “Happiness is a nice feeling.” Congratulations to the newlyweds!

The Good Wife: Your Inside Look at the Costume Department!

The Good Wife returns to CBS tonight! In anticipation of season four, InStyle.com headed to the show’s studio in Brooklyn—yes, it films in Brooklyn even though it is set in Chicago—to find out everything about the beautiful, resilient character of the show that’s entirely silent… the wardrobe! The man behind the designer looks you see on Julianna Margulies’s Alicia Florrick, Christine Baranski’s Diane Lockhart, and Archie Panjabi’s Kalinda Sharma—from Alexander McQueen and Nina Ricci to Burberry and beyond—is costume designer Daniel Lawson. “I’m really lucky I’m on a show where the wardrobe tells a story,” he told us while walking amongst the dozens of racks, each one filled with carefully handpicked clothes. “The women on this show are high-end women. We didn’t just want to have boring looks, we wanted them to be feminine and be strong, and that was really where we started four years ago. This year, we’re continuing and expanding on that.” Go behind-the-scenes of the entire costume department of The Good Wife by clicking through the gallery now. Then, tune in to watch the new season every Sunday at 9/8c on CBS, and follow Lawson on Twitter at @GoodWifeFashion for the latest designer details.

Revenge Returns Tonight!

Sep 30, 2012 @ 1:30 pm

What would fall TV be without the Graysons serving up some serious scandal? ABC’s hit drama, Revenge, premieres tonight at 9 p.m. EST, and the episode will be eerily reminiscent of the series pilot. Like season 1, the show opens with a look forward at a fatal accident. In an extended trailer, released by the network, we are transported to Rhode Island during Labor Day weekend, where a search party is surveying the water (an unidentified body and a captive Emily VanCamp are shown). The clip then flashes to life in the Hamptons three months earlier, where tension among the Graysons is at an all-time high. Tune in tonight for the kickoff of another intense season!

Savvy businesswoman and former showgirl Gillian Darmody (Gretchen Mol) shows Gyp (Bobby Cannavale) some love—and offers him an all-important tip–in tonight’s episode of HBO’s Boardwalk Empire. But we can’t take our eyes off of her perfectly on-trend blue and black ensemble, topped off with some enviable deco baubles. Nucky (Steve Buscemi) should take his cues from her—see how well it goes over when he tells Gyp “not to take things personally.” Tune in to see the new episode tonight at 9 p.m. EST on HBO.

Once Upon a Time Premieres Tonight: What’s Jennifer Morrison Wearing This Season?

Sep 30, 2012 @ 9:00 am

Once Upon a Time is back with its second season tonight! And now that the big secret—that a bunch of fairytale characters really are living in Storybrooke—is out, we had one burning question for Jennifer Morrison: Has her Emma Swan finally ditched the leather jacket for some fantasy duds? “Not yet! I’m still in that leather jacket,” Morrison told us at Bloomingdale’s in New York, where she unveiled the store’s Once-inspired window display. Not that she minds, considering she helped pick out the trademark piece. “Balmain had a beautiful rust-colored jacket then that I kept seeing in their ads. We wanted a leather jacket, because [we thought it would be] like armor protecting her, but black was too Evil Queen-ish. So I asked, ‘What if we do red?’” What a bold choice! Morrison described this upcoming season as an “emotional” one for Emma while she re-meets her parents, Ginnifer Goodwin‘s Snow White and Josh Dallas‘s Prince Charming. And yet, she’s loving all the new additions to the cast, especially “Captain Hook. I really enjoy having him on the show. He’s such a dynamic character.” Tune in to ABC at 8/7 c tonight for Once Upon a Time‘s season premiere.
